Hi there. I posted a thread that is very related to this.

The baseband: 9x15a-acefwmazq-30110068-44 (6506 tmobile latest) WILL allow you to get LTE on Rogers, Fido and Bell only on the c6603.

LTE in Canada is largely AWS. Flashing this baseband enables the proper subchannels for 2600 (additional data band) LTE for data only (not LTE voice enhancement). Unfortunately, even though the 6506 is AWS capable, this baseband doesn't allow the c6603 to do AWS from what I've discovered. Telus has LTE on UMTS 4 9 or 10 (not sure which) only and the same goes for Wind. The actual c6602, 6606, 6616 will all get LTE on all carriers, however. Flashing the 6606 baseband only causes a lockup once you get to the desktop.

It also seems that flashtool doesn't recognize the 6616 FTF file at all. I wanted to try the Bell baseband on my 6603 but the last one I tried didn't appear in the firmware list. If the hardware cellular radio is in fact, physically the same, flashing a custom kernel with the drivers from all the versions of the phone might allow all basebands to work on all phones, making it completely generic. The Z1 went that route in the boxed version from the Sony store, and from what I hear it's just a kernelmode driver lock in the carrier versions. I'm not sure though.

Any thoughts?

PS: OR, the overlay APK blocks the bands from working? If that's the case it might be possible!

Hello all!

I saw that Xperia Z owners got LTE working when they flashed Xperia ZL baseband on their devices... So I was thinking about do something similar with my Xperia Z1:

LTE Bands for C6903 & C6943: 800 / 850 / 900 / 1700 / 1800 / 1900 / 2100 / 2600
LTE Bands for C6906: 700 / 850 / 900/ 1700 / 1900 / 2100 / 2600

My country (Brazil) have LTE working at 2600MHz on great cities, but roads and small cities will get 700MHz LTE (less expensive... bigger distance between cell sites and all that technical stuff).

I own a C6943, if I flash the baseband of C6906 on my Xperia Z1 will LTE works on both 700MHz and 2600MHz?

Only if the physical hardware radio device is the same in both handsets. You would want to flash a baseband ONLY from the country you're in from the SAME MODEL phone (z1) and it SHOULD, theoretically work just fine, as long as you can guarantee the radio hardware is the same. It DID cause a lockup in the OS for me to flash the baseband from the 6606 on my 6603, but it didn't brick the phone or anything.

Hey, so I just tried the 6616 baseband on my 6603. While the phone didn't lock up as bad as it did with the 6606, it does the same thing with locking up process when it's trying to initialize the radio. I'm screwing with it now, gonna try airplane mode and see if I can get it responsive.

This does seem to indicate that the radio hardware is close enough that it might be possible to write a custom baseband that will allow all carriers on the 6603

I just reflashed the same baseband as before since the update screwed with my data and radio, the loop of dropping and working it's way back to h+.
Now it's working properly again lte in Vancouver Fido/Rodgers
So just to confirm, you updated your phone to 10.3.1.A.2.67 and then flashed the C6506 baseband for 4.2.2 included in this thread and it all works as before?

My Xperia Z, only gets 2g data, Mexican Carrier Movistar

If I change baseband with this method, my 3g data will be working? Before I used Telcel Carrier and 3g was working fine

Q1. after flashing the baseband, would the baseband version in about phone change? (I am not sure but seems like mine doesn't change: 9x15A-ACEFWMAZQ-30110082-51)

Q2. I flash the baseband (not sure sucessful or not) but could not get LTE. My C6603 build no. is 10.4.B.0.569. I have tried to flash baseband from the following ftf:
C6506_10.3.A.0.423_Unbranded
C6506_10.3.1.A.2.67_Generic US
C6506_10.4.B.0.569 R1C_LTE North America Commercial and Journalists
