It's pretty harmless. If you don't use it, it just sits there. I simply package block it though as I never use it. Tried it but didn't help me with the -one- game I play🤣

Just tried this but got a security exception thrown. A quick search explained that Google actually removed hide a while ago?

If anyone has an alternative that would be great. Disable doesn't work for game services as it restarts straight away.
What version did you try this on 10 or 11, as I think @justin22 like me is using 10. Also can you post a shot of the exception?

a little help needed. I'm using LADB and testing out one of listed apps from the 2nd post
    pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.samsung.android.aremoji
the shell seems to be working OK, ls gives a list of folders from root directory but trying the above command returns with
failure [app not installed for 0]

what did I do wrong ? also typing "devices" doesn't work, I get "inaccessible or not found"

Ok, but you see the updated method is to hide/disable this service not remove it.
I've read the entire thread a few weeks ago but as I was testing out LADB I only looked at the first two posts.
luckily or unluckily LADB is kinda temperamental, I deleted about 30 packages before it stopped working and started saying fail package not installed the instant I hit enter.
I'll look up the more favoured command when I go in for round 2. while I'm here, is there a quick way of seeing the package names that can be copy pasted from ? there's a couple of things you didn't list that I want to nuke, Samsung Store and gallery.

At least block the Samsung Store and Gallery with Karma Firewall.
    They are pains.

oh I'm gonna be disabling them if not removing them for sure. is karma firewall a VPN based firewall or a root one ? I'm not rooted yet but I do use a crappy VPN which would clash with that style of firewall.

Yeah it's VPN based but uses close to zero battery if you don't open it's app window much.
Unfortunately Q and above screw up it's logging feature but it still works; I'm running Pie🥰
Below is it's usage for the last 24 hours with heavy internet usage.

Just add to this, even with all the info available online (most of it on the XDA forums) I still had to go through the painful and frustrating process of seeing what I could delete and what I could not. This included having to re-flash my device atleast a dozen times (shaving off some my nand flash life)

So it occurred to me to mentioned what you should absolutely do not do -
      • While its safe to remove ALL the knox apps via adb, DO NOT! remove any of the KNOX apps from the '/system/priv-app' folder. This will cause the phone to soft lock, as in it will boot just fine but you will see a ****ty samsung message muttering something about unauthorized removable of payment software.
      • I removed a bunch of the what I'm caling core apps, but DO NOT remove com.samsung.android.kgclient (Payment services), via adb or from the piv-app folder - this will also trigger the same above soft-lock. And for good measure I didnt touch -
        • com.samsung.android.spayfw
        • com.sec.android.app.billing
        • com.samsung.android.mobileservice - this ties into way too much crap.
Now I did a deep purge of a lot of apps and as per the above google doc pointed out I would get the odd bug, but this is no worse that a small delay on 3 or so apps and even then only when I try to access a function for something that got removed and I am happy with that.

All that faffing meant I ended up streamlining my stock rom obdin flash proceedure.
      • I now flash BL, AP, CP, CSC and vbmeta all at the same time.
      • then reboot back into download mode and flash twrp.
      • then reboot back into download mode and flash the magisk_patched bootimage.
      • then finally boot into recovery, flash multi_disabler.zip, format DATA and then reboot to normal boot.
I also unticked the auto reboot, chanage time options in ODIN to give me to time to grab the phone and hold the buttons etc. And for any that interested here is a list of what I removed via adb -

For anyone that has been struggling to remove this damn app (com.samsung.android.game.gos), I found the solution (atleast for me on my S20FE (G781B). It goes without saying you WILL need root enabled on your device for this method!

Fair warning you do this at your own risk

Go to the Googleplay and install 'File Explorer (by jrummy) ', or download it from apkmirror. Then open up the app and go to root then system then priv-app - /system/priv-app
      1. There will be a folder in there called 'GameOptimizationService', select the folder and then select delete.
Then via adb, check and remove the app again, you should get a 'failure' message meaning its already been removed so you will never see a toast popup error agaib (happy days) -
      • pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.samsung.android.games.gos - see below for revissed instructions
Now as I find the theme app & service pointless I have gone and remove that also, but I will need to monitor is long term to see what side effect (if any) that will have. The upside is it removes is from the list in the settings app.

[update] Courtesy of @justin22 we now know you don't have to remove the app just use an alternative method to hide - 'pm hide com.samsung.android.games.gos' This will have the same effect, as in stop the app from running in the background which then stops the annoying popups.

com.samsung.android.games.gos doesnt need to be deleted/removed
      a simple

      pm hide com.samsung.android.games.gos

kills the app without changing anything, besides the state of the package.
pm hide is great for stuff that ignores pm disable !!
its as if the package was removed.

Ah Sweet, thanks for that. Have been looking for that for a while, didn't occur to me to click on that button, doh!
