All them have force touch, but just disabled.
Go to phone information and touch few times over kernel version. You'll get into the test menu.
Go to 12 -Touch sensor.
Now you'll see a red bar on the upper right corner named "Prs". As more you press the more it fills, that is the touch force!

They don't have it as a hardware component

I have a 4/128 and I have turned the feature off, it isn't very useful and does not work very well.

Don't worry about not having it! :)

You are wrong. All models have force touch but software unlocked only in plus version. All tests show presure of my touches. You can test it in ingeniring menu test number 12 touch sensor. It shows touch presur in right corner in prs field.
The only way I know to activate 3d touch (Force touch) is:

Step 1: Install Nova Launcher
Step 2: Long press on empty space of home screen -> Widgets -> Nova Launcher Activities Shortcut
Step 3: Scroll down -> Settings -> 3D Touch
Step 4: Go to home screen where you put the icon, press it and enable it.

Done.

By the way, it doesn't work on mi launcher probably because xiaomi doesn't want 3/64 users use it BUT, MAYBE, Eu devs can enable it.

Press like if I've helped you.

Please forgive my ignorance, so the Plus variants do have both, the "Hardware"(Screen) Force Touch and Software?!
Thank you.

After I activate 3D Touch and exit from that setting, it reverts back to disable if I re-enter there.
How does it behave in Nova Launcher? If I long press an icon, it opens a normal menu and that's it.
