Forgot password and the hard reset didn't work

Hi all,
Please help with my situation. I have a HTC U11. Let my nieces borrow for couple hours. She changed the password and I couldn't get back in. She forgot the password. I tried to reboot into recovery mode and do the Wipe data/ factory reset. When the phone restart, the screen with green android bot popped up and said "Encrypting - wait while your phone is being encryted." And it still ask for password after the initial setup and updates.

You could try this ,Find out the cid/mid of your phone, download the correct ruu ( if available) to your sd card, rename to 2PZCIMG. ZIP reboot into download mode and flash the ruu. Hth

Thank you very much for the reply. Can you please also help with finding the CID/MID? I google but the video instructions are with the active phone. I couldn't get pass the password screen. If possible, can you please give me as detail as possible? Thanks again for your time.

You will have to use the fastboot command. getvar all in adb command prompt,that will give u the info u need to determine which ruu is needed, do a search for instructions on how this is done. Plenty of information is already posted. Hth
