I'm loving my new battery. It literally almost last twice as long as my old. Now I see how some people get the battery life they claim on roms.

My wife and I both have Captivates. The battery life on both of them was getting a little short, so I went to the AT&T retail store to buy new ones. After checking the storeroom, the clerk came out and said they were out of stock and that they'd send them for free. I thought he meant free shipping, but he filled out warranty forms and I got them completely free. He didn't even check my account first to make sure I owned the phones. I had to give him my name and address and I had two new batteries about 4 days later.

I don't happen to be a squeaky wheel, but I can't help but notice that squeaky wheels do get the grease. Petition hard and often, and you might be surprised what the system may offer you.

After reading this thread a last Thursday I was grabbing a bite to eat with a friend next door to an AT&T store, I decided to give it a go even with my phone rooted and using a ROM. My battery had been draining more quickly than usual lately, and when I went in at 6pm, it was at 11%, which probably helped. The guy who was near the door greeted me and I told him about my battery, and when he asked how long I'd had the phone, I told him I guess about 9 months (though I've had it over a year, but I assumed he was trying to find out if I was outside the manufacturer warranty, though maybe he was going to see if I'd gotten it within the last month). He took me over to the service side of the store and added me to their wait list. When it was my turn, I just told the tech the same line about my battery draining, and he looked up my account, told me he was going to take it in back to check it over and he'd be back with a battery too if they had it in stock. He came out 2-3 minutes later and said they were out of the battery and would send it out to me by Monday. I noticed that, while back there he must have turned my phone off because it was powering back on when he started writing up my order. It arrived today just as promised from FedEx, with a manufacture date of last month (I was slightly worried it'd be a used battery, which seems doubtful if it was made last month). And now I have a spare battery.

Went to the att store last week to buy a battery. They asked for my account information, then told me "your phone isn't under warranty". Yea, I know I just want to buy a battery. He asks for my phone and says he'll be back in a few minutes. Hands me my phone with a new battery in it. Nice.

Did you just ship the old one back? How long did it take?
