Disconnecting after firmware update

Hi,

After many tries I was able to update the Freebuds 2 pro firmware using this app. However, the freebuds 2 pro now disconnect or just shutoff by themselves while in my ear after being idle. This never happened before the firmware update. I wish there was a way to downgrade but I highly doubt it. I should've waited for the official app =\

I can shout what I want to my FreeBuds Pro but they do not respond unless I activate Google Assistant with the earbuds.

Not with the Freebuds 2 Pro, works all good without Google. Just change langue in settings to English.

This is really weird. What firmware is installed now? Did you tried a factory reset of the Freebuds?

Yes. That's the first thing I did is hold the button until it factory reset. I have it paired to a Mate 20 pro. I don't remember the number of the firmware but it has to be the same latest firmware as everyone else.

Yes. I have the same paired to a mate 20 pro. My serial is CS instead of CF.
Really weird. They might be broken in some way.

Well since the last update I had a few drop outs but nothing serious. I just noticed that they are very sensitive to other Bluetooth devices around you.

I have a Garmin watch...maybe there is something there. I have reset them again, and I'll retest with both in ear. It only died on me when I'm using the right one only in ear.

I adjusted some settings in the developer settings for the Bluetooth Audio quality. It helped my drop outs. I still think the quality is great. Worth a try.Screenshot_20190214_190432_com.android.settings.jpeg

I have a weird problem with my freebud 2 pros. I primarily use a samsung wireless charger to charge it but it will refuse to charge after 30 mins of wireless charging and the lights will blink in a weird rhythm. I will have to take it off the pad and place it on again to get it to charge. Does anyone have any idea what might be happening? Or should I exchange it

Pretty weird. So I guess its not just me then? I'll try charging from 10% to 75% at one go and see if it works the

Also. How is battery life for you guys? I am only getting about 1.5 hours of playback time at around 60-80% volume

Lot of info here, seems like good work Mirage.

I'm not the most technical of guys unfortunately, hope I can get a bit of advise here?

I've got the Huawei Mate 20 Pro (from UK) LYA-L09, build 187, EMUI 9.0.0

Very interested in the Freebuds 2 PRO.

Am I right in thinking there's no compatibility issues? between the Chinese Freebuds 2 pro and the UK Mate 20 Pro? I read that you have your voice commands working for English language too? Is that standard or do I have do download one of your apps to enable that?

That's pretty much all I need to know before I purchase, sorry if I'm asking you to repeat anything here, like I said I'm not all the clued up on these things.

Thanks in advance!

There are no compatibility issues. Bone Voice ID is not available on my Chilean Mate 20pro (hope they implement it in the future). You can use English voice commands but you have to select the option in the app or settings menu (for newer firmwares). Mirage's apk just makes it easier to select since the original companion app is in Chinese.

Hi everyone,

I got lucky and managed to grab some FreeBuds Pro 2 online from a UK seller at a good price after weeks of deliberation (looked like it was a small qty dropship as no UK stock for weeks before that.)
I got them pretty quick and have been using them for 2 days now. I really like this design but didn't want the Apple AirPod due to the cable type etc. I had some fake AirPods that were pretty good but really buggy so I went for these.

Obviously all the manual is in Chinese when you get it - this is a proper Chinese market item. Remember that this has not been designed for EU / US release at all unlike some of the China goods that are intended for that market.
I also took a bit of a gamble because there are only a few English review videos out there and most of the web pages about this product are just marketing based rather than real reviews.
Maybe I will post an in-depth review with all the feature stuff I've worked out but I just wanted to chime in and say they sound pretty good (for their design, basically same as AirPods) and mostly work well and have a real good build quality. I was surprised to find you can't skip tracks with the gestures though. Thats the only major thing that is missing for me. But on the plus I was surprised to find out they automatically pause the music when you remove one from your ear (like Apple ones do.)

I use a Samsung S8 phone. They seem to work OK with it although I am experiencing some issues with laggy audio and cutting out. My fake AirPods would cut out at lot worse than this, and I work in an office with plenty of devices around so it might not be the fault of the device but just general RF interfearence. I'm also finding that my tracks are sometimes randomly skipping next - even though you can't do this with a gesture. I am thinking maybe the mic's are picking up voices in the office and triggering it?

I was just searching online reference these issues and found this thread It's good to know that someone has kindly translated the companion app (I didn't even know there was one.) So I am updating my phone now (I hope I might be able to get HWA going with these? I have LDAC already for my Sony MDR's, not sure if its related) and I will also try this app to update the FreePods firmware. If this then helps with the audio lag / interfearnce I will report back.

Update:

I have updated them using the app (thank you again OP.) The laggy audio / buffering stutter has gone away. I have had at least one little bit of signal loss / interfearence so far since update but we will see how it goes. I think they sound better now too but that might just be burn in or pseudo effect for me.

Samsung S8 on current firmware does not seem to have HWA - don't know if it will be getting it but at least this is useful for anyone who has this phone who is interested in FreeBud 2 Pro. As someone menitoned, for simple user of Spotify etc, we cannot exceed 320 kb/s anyway for quality, so no point to stress to much about HWA although it is nice to have.

Good to know about the voice controls. I thoguht it was only using the virtual assistant only (google, siri, whatever.) But actually as people point out, it has bult in freebud 2 audio commands for simple playback control which is cool. You must use the companion app to set it to use English langauge otherwise it is Chinese by default. OP has kindly updated/included English manual in the companion app so check that for the commands.

Again I know most users are using Huawei phone but I prefer these style of earbuds and think this is a good product even for non-huawei phone users if you like this style of ear-bud over in-ear ones (if you like in-ear then something better is Samsung IconX or new ones.)

2 months ago I got some brand new defective honor flypods pro that I now sent back and got refund:
-left pod was emiting a 'blank' sound which was far too lound and really annoying. HWA made this blank sound 'wavy' it was coming and going with rythm.
I believed it was in-mic related as on PC, when I totaly disabled the flypods' mic on windows' bluetooth settings, this annoying blank sound finally disapears...
But this can't be done on huawei/honor devices...

So since I buyed apple airpods and I noticed they were with NOT GOOD AUDIO on android because AAC codecs only...

So far only I only found one other user who had this problem :
https://www.reddit.com/r/Huawei/com..._flypods_just_arrived_im_going_to_be/edk4l4a?

So i'm now thinking about to give freebuds2 a try...
The not pro variant this time, to add extra battery life.
