Hi guys,

So i just read today that starting from now on, the authorisation of using the "Android Licence"for Huawei is definitely over after an extended period of time granted by the U.S Government.

Which means, that starting from today, we will not get any Google updates like security or even the play store itself, and will be probably forced to update manually lot of update like it's already the case for the P40/Mate 30 series....
They say in the article that for Android 11, Huawei is gonna need to use their HMS Service instad of the GMS for all their smartphones, even the already released ones like the P30 Series....

So what do you think about it ? Is it worthing keeping this phone as it's price value is gonna decrease very quickly from now on i think...

It's a shame for this amazing phone to end up like this :(

Sorry but this is wrong.
There will be Android Updates like before and there will be updates for the PlayStore and all of the apps.
The only thing that is no longer possible, till the elections in the US and the get rid of Trump, is that Huawei will not get the latest Android Versions for new devices. So Android 11 in the final Version is not gonna hit our Device as early as we are used to.
Android btw is Open Source so the Updates and security updates can't be held away from any device. They only will be later on the Phone as Huawei doesn't get developer Versions.
And as the Huawei P30 Pro is already certified it can't be withdrawn from thwe certification on the Google Play Store.

Thats what I have read for over a year now.

I just posted my concerns as its us, customers, who are the most affected by this numeric war between US Government and China.

I just hope the future U.S elections will change the situation if another president than Trump is elected and decide to come back as thing was before.... but i'm not sure that its gonna be that simple.

I just don't care that much about device price, but about device functionality.... probably huawei could bring a further 11 update, but we will definitely lose all google related software! Just like latest devices, not big deal for some users and not very nice for others like me for example!?

Don't worry, there are workarounds to get GMS working on device, no problem.

As soon as we'll lose our GMS i will create a guide thread for P30 Pro users about how to get Google apps & also Google Certification. Untill then, use the phone as is and most important, DON'T SELL IT. IT's still one of the best devices on the market. I bought myself an Oppo device last week and gave my P30 Pro to my kid, but i'm allready missing battery life :silly:.

What about unlock the bootloader ? any news from Huawei ? could be a workaround ...
Neah, no sign of it. They will not get that unlock bootloader option back to soon for allready released devices, maybe for the next line-up phones, the ones that will come with MediaTek processors onboard they will give us the unlocking bootloader option.

So, to be more precise, P30 pro will no longer have any security updates. But Playstore and apps will works without issues anyway, and it is possible to update them, this is it?

What happened to Mate 30 Pro / P40 Pro will happen to P30 / P30 Pro and all Huawei devices before those that came with GMS preinstalled. Read bellow for more info. We can sideload Google apps, but the device might not get Google Certification (or it could work if we use the P40 Pro users guide for how to from their forum).

P30Pro came with the Google Service and certified pre-installed so this cannot be withdrawn!
So nothing will happen to the device now!
Nad as Android has an Open Source arm with AOSP security updates will still come to the device too.
The only thing that could be is, that we don't get Android 11 or more likely to become it later than we are used to.
Don't know where other confirmed information will come from. Didn't read anything different till now that is really secured.

That is what by the way is mentioned from google Employee in the thread on the link from Silviu. Don't know why you write something completely different @SilviuO ??
