Frustrating Chromecast Issues

Hey everyone.

I've had my Chromecast (2nd gen) for a while now, and it frustrates me to no end.

Basically, I cannot detect the Chromecast from any app except YouTube, not even the Chromecast app itself (it only picks it up during the initial setup, which I've done countless times)!

I live on-property for the company I work for, and I have very decent WiFi in my home. I have sat down with our IT guy and worked through all the possible reasons / settings that may cause the device not to function as it should, and all those were fixed / changed to the way they should be, but it still doesn't work.

I have obviously also tried everything they suggest on the internet, like running it on wall power instead of from the TV, doing a factory reset, restarting routers bla bla bla.... Nothing works! After everything the only app that picks up the device is YouTube.

What kind of router you use?
I have two routers, a Linksys and a TP-Link. With Linkksys had many problems similar to yours, with the TP-Link I can use all my devices without problems

Some models of routers are not fully compatible, or try to see if there is a firmware update for your router model
