[FTF][LB/UB] 14.4.A.0.108 6833 ~ KK 4.4.4 ~ Install ~ Root ~ Deodex ~ Dark Themed.

Hi All,

I made an ftf for 14.4.A.0.108 Android 4.4.4 for the 6833 (cda# 1275.9426). I think this makes it an unbranded generic rom from Malaysia, anyways, I have confirmed it all works well.

Update: Deodexed Patch (Post 2) also working well.
Update 2: Dark Themed Deodex Patch (Post 3) working even better!

To make the ftf I grabbed a pc companion update and converted it with flashtool.

Titanium backup first as there will be a full wipe. Nandroid probably a good idea too

Flash attached ftf in the latest flashtool (remember, this will wipe everything). Enough guides on how to do this already exist so we don't need another..

Boot and set up. Don't forget to enable usb debugging in developer options after tapping Settings ~ About Phone ~ Build number x6 times.

Root will Easyroot v9 (fixed version) ("customised for Xperia" version of Towelroot - includes ric kill ftw)

Reboot

Load supersu (chainfire version) from play store and update binary when prompted.

Reboot

Install @[NUT] dual recovery. Note: This download seems to annoy chrome and throw up a virus alert ~ use the zip anyway it's safe.

You can now flash the deodex patch in Post 2 or Post 3 if you would like

Titanium backup you did earlier should be good for you to restore from.

Remember to refix your sd card via the sdfix app from play store. The rooting tool you used earlier already performs ric kill so root r/w access is ok

Titanium Backup in case anything goes wrong..
Wipe cache/dalvik
Flash deodex_install.zip in recovery
Wipe cache/dalvik

(same instructions as post 2, but you get (deodexed) dark themed system apps)
This is a full system patch (not just themed apps) ~ it can be flashed instead of post 2.

Update: there have been a few reports of bootloops after flashing this. Until I have sorted it out please flash post 2 patch then the mod from @Rajeev linked above. (confirmed method by @dandyqb)

update @appleknight reports flashing @jackie099 108 kernel prior to the this dark deodex patch avoids bootload issues (probably a ric_kill related) - flashing it after he unthemed deodex also avoids any issues.

Good question. As far as I can tell it is a unbranded generic euro lte (Italy) version going by the build prop cda# (1275.9426). I'm in Australia and haven't experienced any issues. I've updated OP with (suspected) region details.

Everything went off fine - the update, rooting and installation of recovery (incidentally, Chrome flags off a virus in the recovery installation zip).
Was hoping DT2W was included in this update... but looks like we will have to wait for a modified kernel for that.
Otherwise, have not noticed any other issues.
Btw, since you have been using this ROM a bit longer, has battery drain reduced?

Battery has been good for me considering my heavy usage today (all uploads and threads done from phone) - chrome didn't like the zip for me either - I trust Barry's / NUTs stuff so forced it anyway

after uploading more than 2.5gb so far today I won't be able to upload again until tomorrow (about to play some Mario Kart 8 hehe) ~ and then it will be mega.

Xposed settings injector

Live Wallpaper on lockscreen (via gem xposed and gravity box xposed settings)

(you'll have to take my word for it with a static pic - solar system hd deluxe live wallpaper)

Digging the Xperia keyboard too. Has learning from gmail and facebook, great smiley/emoji icons, themes, as well as backup to sony account. (plus SwiftKey keeps disappearing/uninstalling lol)

How is it possible that I, living in Italy having a swapped-in-warranty C6833, could trigger an update for Malaysia?
I assure you I'm Italian, I bought my original Ultra from the UK and it got swapped in Italy under warranty with a brand new unit...
