This is a non-standard way of spitting ZIP files, created by 7-Zip. You'll have to use HJSplit to join them or use 7-Zip to extract them. You could also use this command in Windows Command Prompt to join them:

Code:
copy /b C6602_10.3.A.0.423_Unbranded_India_FTF.zip.001 + C6602_10.3.A.0.423_Unbranded_India_FTF.zip.002 C6602_10.3.A.0.423_Unbranded_India_FTF.zip
When flashed 4.2.2 on my Z the ftf I used was the generic ES version, came in a split file, on Windows 7 all I had to do join them was highlight both files and right click>extract here, and they became 1 file.

Yes, but you probably downloaded my FTF (which is packed as a multi-part RAR archive) and extracted it with WinRAR.
This FTF here has been packed with 7-Zip, which creates non-standard split ZIP files. You can only extract them with 7-Zip, not with WinRAR/WinZip/etc. unless you first join the two files as I said.

Is this the bug fix sony pushed out on pc companion many days ago?or it's the old one in a new thread?

Which bug fix? This is just the first firmware release with Android 4.2.2 and Generic IN (India) customization. There is no 'bug fix' for 4.2.2 yet.

does this have TA partition? I had actually completely flashed my c6602 with lte version from ES 4.2 firmware but it seems battery drains much faster than my previous firmware .253 version of JB 4.2 for c6602, therefore i want to return to c6602 firmware...but to do that i need a c6602 ftf firmware that has TA partition as i didnt bother to back up my original firmware when i flashed..(pardon my stupidity) and thanks in advance for confirmation...

FTF files never contain the complete Trim Area, because it's unique for each phone. You can only backup your own TA (before unlocking your bootloader) and you cannot restore a TA backup from someone else's phone because that would hard-brick your phone. Just flash a C6602 FTF and you will be fine.

sir thanks for the reply, however i actually tried flashing (with complete wipe) several JB 4.1 FTF for C6602 (my current firmware is 4.2.2 with version .423 from Spain for LTE) to no avail as they all end up rebooting my C6602 xperiaZ upto xperiaz logo rendering it unusable.

This prompted me to check the files being flashed by those FTF firmware and found out that all the 4.1 FTF i have downloaded doesnt have the option for TA while the FTF for 4.2 (C6603 for Spain) has this option when using flashtool..so currently im back with the LTE firmware for my C6602 XZ.

The 10.3.A.0.423 Generic ES FTF (which I created) indeed contains a TA file (preset1.ta), but it only writes a couple of zeros to your TA, so it doesn't contain anything useful. You probably used bad/incomplete FTFs for C6602. Unfortunately, some people also exclude certain SIN files when creating FTFs, which causes them to be incomplete.

yes some of the FTFs have missing files as shown on flashtool which causes flashing such firmwares to fail on my case (from C6603 firmware to C6602) anyway thanks for the information :good: (im still new with this stuff concerning ROM's)..

If any .sin files are missing in an FTF, please let the uploader know about this. It can be frustrating to download a 700MB+ FTF and then find out that some parts are missing.

Yeah, it is really frustrating to download such files only to find out that they are incomplete..some FTF's uploaded even has 1GB file size!

Well for this FTF, non of the .sin files are missing (cross checking it with the C6603 FTF for spain - which worked for my case), however, i cannot confirm what files are missing (except for TA) on the JB 4.1 FTF's that i have previously downloaded since I permanently deleted them (as it takes disk space) after successfully flashing the FTF earlier posted on this thread.

Xperia Z

Hello everyone,

This is my first ever thread on XDA. I have been a member for quite some time and have not contributed anything till now. So this is my first try.

Xperia Z (C6602) India Unbranded firmware (.FTF)
Downloaded through Sony PC Companion, decrypted and repackaged by Flashtool v0.9.11.0. Tested on my own Xperia Z, works perfectly. :good:

Android version: 4.2.2
Build number: 10.3.A.0.423
Branding: Unbranded
Country: India

Download:
d-h.st/S4z(450.00 MB, zip archive part 1)
d-h.st/9KB (314.00 MB, zip archive part 2)
Thanks
@guys!! Have you had any problem with this ROM after installing it to another device

Guys have anyone of you experienced a weird increase in battery percentage? i cant connect to wifi after using this rom for 2 days so i decided to power off and start my Xz with 29% remaining battery..But when it restarted, the battery percentage magically increased to 52%..i dont know if this is a good thing, but i have not connected my phone to my charger nor to a usb connector..I never had experienced this with my Xz (c6602) running JB 4.2.2 version .423 from spain for C6603.

any idea what is causing this discrepancy? is it with this rom or just my phone?
