Many things can be done but there are many things which cannot be done either.

So try this.
install this and set up.
if your Firestick is in Sleep, press "Home Button" and see if input is changed or not.

Thanks, it works when Fire Stick is in sleep. Input is changed. But only works when stick was in sleep...

could we use this to change the volume level ? i mean since you already capture the home button then you can capture a combo of say home and next and then we can trigger lowering or rising the volume level right?

Just have to say we bought our first smart TV about a month ago (my partner and I moved in together a couple years ago and we're only just starting to buy stuff new and our old TV died).

I would have liked an Android TV but, at least here in the UK, they're few and far between and relatively expensive so we settled on a JVC Fire TV Edition. To be honest we don't have any other Amazon/Alexa/Fire devices (were quite bound in to Google's architecture with Nest Minis and Chromecasts) and I hated the interface.

I stumbled across this thread during late night random searching and WOW! I'm having to use Leanback Launcher so I can switch inputs and no other launcher I have found supports this. My only wish would be getting recommendations and the search function to work (no root for me AFAIK) but still, this is amazing. Thank you so much!

Hello,
I've tried this on 5.2.7.3 and when I run WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS command I'm getting 'adb: unknown command pm'. I've tried this with updated Studio on Mac and Windows boxes with same results. I was pretty much sure this is related to adb tool, but couldn't google out any results. Any clue what it is?
Thanks

In ADB shell enter
settings put secure enabled_accessibility_services de.codefaktor.ftvlaunchx/de.codefaktor.ftvlaunchx.HomeService
settings put secure accessibility_enabled 1

I checked that few months ago, FireOS didn't allow any change to system Volume Level, haven't checked that after that.

No github repo for that.

Here's the leanback launcher with Amazon Search.
I have a Firestick 4k, so I test on that.
This should work on FireOS 6 and later version.

NOTE:
If you use custom launcher then the stock launcher doesn't load at first, so if you click on Search or Settings the First time then the home screen loads, that is only for the first time, after that Clicking on Search button will open Amazon Search and clicking on Settings opens Amazon settings.

When you say "with Amazon Search" does this mean you can click the search button at the top left of the launcher and it works? But with Amazon instead of Google?

This works great. Thanks. Is there a way to move apps on home screen between sections? Say move an app from Apps to Video on Home Screen. Great work btw.

Has this stopped working for anyone else on an Insignia/Toshiba Fire TV with the latest update (6.2.7.2)? I posted an issue about it on GitHub, but I figured I would ask here too since this thread seems to be more active.

First of all thank you all for your hard work.
I love that there are options to the stock Amazon Launcher.
There is just one question left. Is there any solution to the “X-Ray” Problem?
It always pops up on pause or start and I have to press it away...

Welcome to FTVLaunchX – a simple helper application to allow custom launchers on Amazon Fire TV devices – no root required!

It is inspired by the famous LauncherHijack of @BaronKiko and tries to overcome several issues relating to it:

    - Reliably intercepts any & all presses of the home button
    - Starts the selected launcher on boot
    - Starts the selected launcher when waking up from sleep
    - Fixes the ominous missing-cursor bug in Silk
    - etc.

Please find a thorough description, installation instructions as well as the source code over here:
    https://github.com/codefaktor/FTVLaunchX

    Get the APK: FTVLaunchX-1.0.1

    EDIT: uploaded new release 1.0.1!

If you want to say Thank You or fund further development, then feel free to drop me buck or two, see https://github.com/codefaktor/FTVLaunchX#Donations

Please report back if you did test on your devices (so far tested on Fire TV Stick 2nd Gen & Fire TV Stick 4K) – I will watch this thread for any issues and/or feature requests.

To fix VoiceView Problem in hulu, Netflix and YouTube, open adb shell and enter the commands.
    Code:
    pm disable-user com.svox.pico
    pm disable-user com.ivona.orchestrator
    pm disable-user com.ivona.tts.oem
    pm disable-user com.amazon.logan

@SweenWolf could there be a setting somehow to open the menu of installed apps (com.amazon.venezia) instead of network settings on long press home (or any other key combo) for FireTV-Settings? That would be awesome to quick launch / change any installed apps. ?

It is indeed a great idea,
It's easier to switch b/w apps by using this, if not wanting to switch then we can press back to to back to previous app.

    Anyway here's an update.

    Changelog:
Pressing back on Settings now takes you to Custom home.
Long press opens Amazon Default Apps Screen (wait 800ms)
Double Tap opens Amazon Settings (time increased to 300 ms)
Long press now works with any app.
    (Tested on Mantis)

These options are needed to be enabled first in the settings.

Just want to say Thank you very much for your hard work! I have your launcher and FTVLauncherX on 3 firesticks with Skel40's debloated rom and everything I need works great. Thanks again!

That was fast. Thanks, works great.
@SweenWolf, do you have paypal? Would gladly donate something.

Thank you guys, really appreciate that.

Here is an update for Wolf Launcher for FireTV.
It can now be set as Default Home on Rooted FireTVs.

Thank you so much! I finally have my cursor back in the Silk Browser because of this!

Glad that it works for you and you like it :) The main reason why I was creating it was this pesty cursor bug...

Oh, on what kind of device are you using it? Am looking for someone to test it on a Fire TV Cube with Fire OS 7 / Android 9...
