Go to battery settings, battery optimisation, then 3 dots and advanced optimisation. I guess that is what you were looking for
That's exactly what I wanted. Thanks.

Thanks! But will not it spoil the daily battery life?
It may to some extent. You can't have the cake and eat it too:p

Have been trying to read all the posts to find my situation and the various outcomes but haven't come across...

Unlocked bootloader on 5.0.8 with TWRP. I see the official 9.0.4 is on the OP downloads page. Aside from needing to backup everything including internal storage, what else do I need to be aware of if I flash full rom package? Currently also have dm-verity workaround. Def want to get to Pie without screwing up perfectly running device as of now.

Appreciate any feedback.

Thanks!

To be honest, wait a bit with upgrading. I honestly don´t see any changes in the ROM that made all of the hours of work (and losing a bit of data) worth it. The Pie rom itself lags a bit as well (and in my case I have to reboot the phone daily).
While the behaviour of the muting switch has changed for the better I now have lost split screen and a stable phone.

Split screen is present and works fine, the rest also works fine. You sure you haven't dirty flashed upon an old build? Doing a factory reset might also help.

In my case - pretty much everything worked as before. Battery life might be meh, but that's probably more because the battery is old than Android itself.

I came from Oreo, so it was certainly a very clean flash. Equally from 9.0.2 to 9.0.3 to 9.0.4 were also clean flashes as I had to erase everything as it somehow wouldn't decrypt. If you have any advice on that, I'd be grateful. I might give a Factory Reset a go. Currently I have to restart my phone 3x a day because it just freezes when unlocking due to the fingerprint sensor. No idea why or how to solve it.

Split Screen works?! Weird. Need to look into that then.

You need to sideload the rom:

Installation Method Via Recovery

This method is slightly tricky, especially if you’ve never used recovery before.
You’ll need your phone, a Windows PC and a USB cable.

1. Make sure ADB and drivers are installed on your Windows PC.
2. Power off your phone.
3. Enter recovery mode by pressing and holding the Power + Volume down buttons together.
4. Select English language and choose Install from USB option in the recovery screen.
5. Connect your phone to the PC and sideload the downloaded file by using the following command:

adb sideload <filename>*

Sideload process takes some time, so stay patient.
Reboot the phone when done.
You should be on the official build.
If you're phone wont reboot to system and gives you a bootloop,
reboot to recovery and preform a factory reset.

*Replace <filename> with the name of the downloaded file.
Jeff-

Have been searching all around for my specific situation with regards to upgrading and need some direction from a more experienced user!

Currently on OOS 5.0.8 with TWRP and everything else stock. Also have the dm-verity that shows with each boot. What is the suggested route to upgrade to whatever the latest stable is from OP (9.0.4?) I am guessing no matter what, the internal memory will be wiped with any suggested process? Love my OP3 and want to take advantage of the last significant upgrade to Pie.

Please let me know what you suggest when you have time.

Many Thanks!

Thanks a lot !

Hope my battery will be better ! I will perform a full wipe, then TWRP+ROM+MAGISK ROOT

Do you think it's a good idea to use kernel like Franco kernel with?

Under Magisk Settings, and click Systemless hosts module, it will add the same, and adblock would start to work properly.

Hello,

Do you think it's a good idea to flash sotck Kernel by Franco Kernel on PIE ? Or better to stay stock ?

Thanks
I have been using a custom kernel since the past one week. I could find drastic difference in the overall smoothness. I'm using madKernel right now.

Tried this 9.0.5 update, only lasted for a day.
The battery drain. the heat, the lags, the wifi stuck when moving beyond the wifi range, all that hassle is exist even after i do a time consuming debloating which is suprisingly increasing from 5.0.8.

5.0.8 was superior back then compared to custom.
Back to flashing things, NOS/LOS definitely better now.
