NEX 3 is a fabulous phone let down by the OS. It's like a beautiful model having to wear flea-infested clothes so often that she doesn't feel beautiful anymore. I have nothing against Chinese operating systems, my OPPO phone runs ColorOS and it has none of the limitations and stupidity of Funtouch. If anyone has solutions to some of the following unresolved issues I'd be glad hear of them.
Three glaring omissions:
No option to disable lockscreen (early decade-old smartphones had this quirk of not being able to disable or bypass the lock screen, and it seems Vivo will need longer than ten years to figure it out. Ancient 'no lock' apps created for just such a problem don't work, unsurprisingly). I've used SetEdit to disable lockscreen but it has the unwanted effect of disabling notifications as well, so I don't use it. AutoInput with its 'auto dismiss keyguard' is an acceptable solution.
No system spell-checker.
No system EQ support for third-party audio players Neutron, JetAudio, PowerAmp.
More fun-time with Funtouch:
Popups: one of the first apps I deleted was Tips, but it didn't stop tips. I still get an avalanche of useless popup 'tips' - for instance, 'data network in use' for a 20kb PDF attachment in Gmail. And even when you've uninstalled the stock Vivo launcher there are still nags about switching back to it. These system prompts are enough to reject Vivo completely.
High volume warning is not disabled via Tasker or Macro.
Google Pay contactless is not supported: "The device manufacturer didn't submit the device software to Google for certification."
Forced to register with Vivo, otherwise the phone is crippled. And password verification needed - repeatedly - for just about everything.
On reboot launcher reverts to stock despite having third-party launcher as default. Solution is to uninstall Vivo launcher.
I thought I met my match with Windows 10 and its 1001 irritations and annoyances, but Funtouch conspires to defeat an enjoyable user-experience just as effectually. The warnings are there in the name 'Funtouch' (bringing to mind little kiddies in nursery school), and after a week tinkering with it I've come to the conclusion that Funtouch should be in a 'special needs' school.
