"FW V1.13.40.496" file size is 1.73 GBytes.
I try to sideload it via adb
I get an error message " * cannot read 'UL-Z00L-WW-1.13.40.496-user.zip' *"
I think it's too big for load
I tried with Zenfone 5 and I did not get that error message again.

Are you sure the file is not corrupt? Try downloading it again.

BTW what are you trying to do with the firmware file? Update your phone? Restore your rooted phone to stock?

If your phone is stock and you just want to update it then copy the file direct to the root of the sdcard in the phone. Reboot the phone and in notifications you will get an alert that there is a system update. Just click on it and the phone will install it. After the update is completed, it is recommended that you boot the phone into recovery and wipe the cache partition.
BTW Hold Power + Vol DOWN to go to recovery. Use volume keys to navigate and power to select.

If your phone is rooted then copy the stock firmware to the phones sdcard, shut the phone down and boot it up in recovery mode and select update zip. Navigate to the fir, ware file on the sdcard and flash it. when finished do a factory reset and then reboot.
