guys, i have stock version of gapps, but how do i get google assistant?
You should already be able to have it, but apparently, you do not. The only reason why you don't, is probably the fact that your phone's language isn't English (US) nor English (UK). If you change your language to English, you'll get the Google Assistant.

Hi Guys!

First of all, thank you very much for this great ROM ! Excellent Job :)

I am looking for advices.
I have been experiencing a strange network issue since I use this the very last version of Linage OS 13 ROM on my G800F.
I have installed the version 14.1 hoping that the issue will be fixed but it is still the same thing.

The issue deals with MMS management and the impact on Internet (3G/LTE) connection.

Every time I receive or I send a MMS, I loose the internet connection whereas the network status indicator shows more than 3 bars out of 5 connected into LTE.
(This issue is 100% reproductible)

I cannot access to the internet (Browser timeout expires and a message "dns_probe_finished_no_internet" is displayed)
MMS cannot be sent or received

However
- I can make/receive a phone call

I performed the following troubleshooting :
- Switch to flight mode => KO / it does not fix the issue
- Restart the phone => KO / it does not fix the issue
- Power off the phone wait for a couple of minutes => partially KO / most of the time it does not fix the issue, sometimes it does => test not reliable
- Power off + SIM removal / Power on (without SIM) + boot then shut down / re intriduce the SIM and restart. => KO / it does not fix the issue
- Full Wipe of the phone (data/system/etc.) and install Lineage OS 14.1 (released May15th 17)

I also did:
- Change the SIM CARD (new SIM card received from my service provider (SOSH in France))
- Check APN parameters : OK

What does fix the issue everytime:
- Set up the WIFI and connect to it => internet can be reached / then I desable the WIFI and then disable it ... the access to the internet through 3G/LTE connection in now OK / internet keeps working

The issue is systematically reproduced when I try to send a MMS or when my phone tries to download a MMS that I have been sent.
I have done many searches on XDA and I have read that this issue has been experienced for CM13 release avec dec-16 // I will try to find out the Thread.

Would you have any idea / advice?
Many thanks to you for your support!!!

Hi quick question about GPS.

I've searched the thread, but it's not clear to me whether there are known issues with the GPS or not (lots of chat about compass) - GPS is not listed in known bugs. I'm having some issues, if I open google maps when location is set to "device only", it prompts me to enable the high accuracy mode, if i ignore that request in the status bar it shows GPS signal icon with a small "x" above it (indicates no sats found). Using GPS tools ("GPS Status" or "Satellite Check"), these also fail to fail to find / lock onto any. Does anyone else have the issue? Is there a known workaround or is it simply a wait for next update? If anyone does have it working, wld you mind you confirm what version rom you're using (I'm on 20150515) and what version of firmware (it's my GF's phone, so not my daily driver)?

thanks!

I assume you're not usinga version from 2015-05-15, but I don't really understand what the big problem is. Google Maps clearly asked to change to high accuracy mode, so if you don't, that's probably the main cause of the issue. Are there any reasons why you wouldn't want to change to high accuracy, other than a little bit of extra battery usage?

Thanks for the reply. "yes" honest mistake / typo, to correct "the version I'm using is 20170515" (sorry). I've no objection turning on high accuracy mode, but keeping it off confirmed (at least in my mind) that the GPS sensor wasn't working as expected - turning on high accuracy mode obfuscated that fact (by using wi-fi / mobile signals to make up for lack of Satellite signals).

I hope my original question still stands up: "am i alone, or do other people have an issue with the GPS sensor not managing to lock onto satellites"

No GPS problems for me. I already used the phone for car navigation and track recording (and after GPS usage the compass works until next reboot :D).

Is there anybody who is experiencing such an issue with MMS and loss of internet access ?

If any is there any possibility to activite logs to monitor thé MMS function or the network activity?

I always understood "low accuracy location" to be network (I.e. cell tower) based, and "high accuracy" to be using the GPS sensor. Thus, of you disable "high accuracy mode", I wouldn't be surprised of your phone cannot find any satellites...

The new Google thingy, where they try to "increase accuracy" by looking at WiFi SSIDs goes beyond that, and I tend to disallow that whenever promoted.

Hth,
Karsten

Thanks - the issue (no satellite lock) was also present when i set the GPS sensor to "device only" (which i believe to be GPS only, no support from Cell / Wi-Fi /Bluetooth)

Me again, carrying on my troubleshooting about MMS issues and loss of Internet access ....
I have installed CATLog on my G800F.

Here is the scenario I have run:
- disable WIFI connection
- Start recoding logs.
- Switch to SMS/MMS application
- Open a new message, select the addressee, select an image to ensure that the SMS will be an MMS and Send.
- Switch to internet browser to confirm that the access to the Internet is lost
- Activate the WIFI Connection
- Go back on SMS application and ensure that the message is finally sent.

For info, 2 or 3 minutes of this logs session is there
I have created a TXT (Extract.txt / showing Messaging App, MMSservice, some network and system statuses)

It is pretty easy to find out when this issue occurs and that a itterative process is on to try to send the MMS [around 22:40:56]
It is also easy to seee when this issue is fixed (with the Wifi connection) [around 22:41:22]

Less than 2 minutes of logs to go through :)
Could you just have a look at it ? :)

Hi devs, do you have any plans on implementing device encryption anytime soon? Your lineage port works perfect for me except for the not working dm-crypt module.

Hmm,does your provider use a separate APN for MMS? This may be the case as this can cause interference with your data connection. Although I thought that this was no longer an issue.

Yes, you are right! :D
The provider does use 2 APNs, one for the internet access and the other for the MMS.

(background info, I have reset the network parameters, cleaned all APN that are not relative to my provider ;) checked the APNs values; they are correct)
