Hi guys,

I made my first experience with custom roms and I had some problems....

I used the tools and files posted at page one of this thread.
Whe I tried to install lineage-14.1-20170528-UNOFFICIAL-kminilte, TWRP stopped with "Error 7".
I tried several times, also re-downloaded the image, but it would´t work.
However, with version lineage-14.1-20170324-UNOFFICIAL-kminilte it worked fine......
Any idea why it doesn´t work with the latest version?

Now, the browser is buggy and crashes quite often.
And the camera stops to work also quite often. I installed open cam but the behavier is the same, the app can´t connect with the camera.

I came from a "virgin" stock rom.

Thank you for your work

I appreciate, that many of you are able to build roms. But it gets more and more confusing.
With the latest step of hennymmc it seems that requirements to become offcial ROM (SELinux) are fulfilled.
It seems, that the price for this is to do a clean install (not sure whether other steps are mandatory).
@hennymcc @spokecity138 @Zocker1304 @zytrix78 and others:
can you combine your power to make it official? With the automatic build your load becomes less and we have the advantage to talk about not so many different roms.

@hennymmc: can you update the inital post?
Especially that it is required to have the latest TWRP that is provided by ayke? With other TWRP images we run into trouble (su is not working and others...)
(edit: Just seen you did an update, but if the TWRP linked is same as few month ago - it doesn't work well).

Last but not least: thanks to all of you to keep S5mini uptodate!

I want to sugesst some updates, too (in navy):
Install recovery:
  • Reboot your device into Odin mode (= Download mode): turn off your device, then press Volume-Down + Home + Power button at the same time and release them.
  • Confirm the following warning message with the Volume-Up button.
  • Connect your device to your PC via USB
  • Make sure the device driver's are installed on your PC
  • Start Odin
  • In Odin select AP (=former PDA) and select the recovery image (recovery.tar.md5)
  • Check that only "Auto Reboot" and "F. Reset Time" is set
  • Click on "Start": the kernel image should be flashed now and the device should reboot afterwards. By flashing the recovery, your warranty will be void.
  • After the recovery flashing process was successful, power of your device and remove the battery for 5 seconds(?). If the recovery flashing process wasn't successful restart into Download mode and flash again or flash the stock rom.
Last but not least: thanks to all of you to keep S5mini uptodate!
I agree!

Everything is crashing, bootloop after bootloop. Clean flash btw, everything was wiped before flashing
Hi!
I'm trying to figure out what we (the ones having problems with the most recent ROM) did different than the rest. Maybe we'll figure it out that way. Can you please give me a list of your setup?
This is what I installed:
Anyway, you don't have to revert the whole ROM to get you phone working again. Just the kernel is enough. https://github.com/Spookcity/ROMS-G8...ment-303099815

I'm curious about this as well. Seems random.
1. I have the latest baseband and TWRP.
2. OpenGapps pico.
3. Have installed Firefox (for test reasons)
4. Have used the latest hennymcc Lineage build as well as AEX (with the newest kernel commits)
I have none of these problems.(aside from FF crashing and causing a reboot)

Funny thing, I got four S5 mini G800F an I set them almost up like you. Instead of firefox I use chrome and opengapps nano.
All phones clean install after full wipe incl. internal storage.
3 phones work well, but one didn't see the sim card and I had to flash spookcitys kernel.
Maybe the hardware is slightly different.

Um yeah... can't get it to work

Hello xda community,

so me and a friend have been trying to get LineageOS on his mom's S5 mini and we simply can't get it to work.
We've tried following the OP to the point (only using files from the links provided) multiple times and TWRP just throws an error during installation (see image can't post links to images yet :( see code tags).
We're coming from a stock 6.0.1 rom , fully wiped everything that's wipeable through TWRP and the phone has never been modified before.
If you need any more information, feel free to ask.

Thanks for your help

TWRP just throws an error during installation
I think you have to use latest TWRP, please look at page 1 under Downloads and use the link to latest build by ayke where you also get latest TWRP. You have to install that recovery.img file with the TWRP you got (look at bottom right to change to flash .img files).

I seem to be getting somewhere:
  1. wiped *everything* and did a clean install WITHOUT ANY Gapps > The phone boot just fine no bootloop whatsoever
  2. installed Gapps pico > The phone boot just fine no bootloop whatsoever
  3. tried safetyNet and got a green response *hurrray*
So now I'm up to installing every single APP I had before one by one to see when the phone stops to boot. Whish me luck.

A little update from the front:
By *everything* I meant even the external SD and internal SD.
I was not able to install Google Camera after the first boot of LOS. And trust me I checked many times that I selected it in the installer. So I thougth this might be the culprit. But no. After painstakingly installing every app one by one using Gapps Aroma I decided to once again install everything in one go and it worked. Even the stock camera got replaced. So now I'm testing the cloud update right after installation. Till now I didn't connect to my google account so my app settings don't get messed up. Maybe some of the settings that get applied are faulty.

YOU WON'T GUESS!
IT'S THE FINGERPRINTING SENSOR
Right after configuring a finger and rebooting the phone does bootloops.
So I reverted the kernel to @spookcity138 test6 and removed the configurated finger. Reflashed boot.img from @hennymcc 's ROM. And the phone is working again. :highfive:

Thanks for all the testing. Yeah,I don't use the FP, so that explains why I didn't have any issues. Its an interesting find.

Yesterday I decided to install LineageOS on my G800F. This is the third phone on which I am installing a custom ROM, before i had a ZTE Blade and a Samsung S4 mini.
Along the way I've had some trouble, and I wanted to share some of my experience with installing the latest ROM (lineage-14.1-20170528-UNOFFICIAL-kminilte) on my phone.

I come from a stock rom, no modifications whatsoever.
1) Install TWRP 3.0. Failed because of auto reboot after flashing the image with odin. After disabling auto reboot in odin it worked.
2) Wipe caches, data and system, Install ROM with TWRP. Installation failed with error 7. After flashing TWRP 3.1 with odin the installation was successful.
3) Bootloop, system keeps loading but doesn't start. (note: i did not have fingerprint enabled on the stock rom)
4) Install Gapps nano, still bootloops.
5) Install Spookcity test6 kernel, phone boots! Everything works fine, except the safetynet part. Chrome and Snapchat not working.

Decided to try again.

1) Wipe *everything*: caches, system, data, internal and sd.
2) Copy files to SD card
3) Install lineage-14.1-20170528-UNOFFICIAL-kminilte, phone boots!
4) Install Gapps pico, phone still boots!
5) Set up google account, download SafetyNet Helper Sample. Safetynet is OK!
6) Chrome works fine, Snapchat works fine!

For me, the *wipe everything* part was very important I guess.

Thank you everyone here, I've been reading this thread a lot and it really helped me!
