YOU WON'T GUESS!
IT'S THE FINGERPRINTING SENSOR
Right after configuring a finger and rebooting the phone does bootloops.
So I reverted the kernel to @spookcity138 test6 and removed the configurated finger. Reflashed boot.img from @hennymcc 's ROM. And the phone is working again. :highfive:
Nice find. That makes sense. If you already have FP enabled before installing the ROM it won't start at all.
That's might also be the reason why I was only able to reproduce the problem once and never got the bootloop again.

I will look into it when I have some time.

It seems there are two problems:
  • Firefox crashes and causing a reboot. Spookcity already found the kernel patch that causes this issue.
  • The fingerprint reader which probably causes the bootloop

The second problem with FP might be the same as the FF crashing problem or at least related.

Thanks to everybody for helping with this issue as well as the other installing issues (TWRP, ...).
I will also look into the opening post when I have time.

Am I the only one with the phone crashing when using Snapchat? If I use the phone normally everything works perfectly, but I can only use the phone like for 10 seconds before it freezes and reboots when I open Snapchat

Hi.
I have s5 mini and only upgraded it to 6.0.1 officially ( the phone is not rooted). In order to use this ROM, the right and safe order would be:

Could I avoid rooting the phone and follow the procedure as described in the first post? That means install twrp, backup, flash ROM and install GApps.

You don't need to root the phone in order to install TWRP. Simply install it via Odin (as described here in this post multiple times).

How did you flash this with Odin, this is not a .tar or a .tar.md5?!
Henny actually mentioned how to flash TWRP in the OP. Here's how you're supposed to do it:

Install recovery:
  • Reboot your device into Odin mode: turn off your device, then press Volume-Down + Home + Power button at the same time and release them.
  • Confirm the following warning message with the Volume-Up button.
  • Connect your device to your PC via USB
  • Make sure the device driver's are installed on your PC
  • Start Odin
  • In Odin select PDA and select the recovery image (recovery.tar.md5)
  • Check that only "Auto Reboot" and "F. Reset Time" is set
  • Click on "Start": the kernel image should be flashed now and the device should reboot afterwards. By flashing the recovery, your warranty will be void.
  • After the recovery flashing process was successful, power of your device. If not restart into Download mode and flash again or flash the stock rom.

Ok, I meant "thread" but I rest my case.

This link from 28th May 2017 gives me "404 not found". Was the file taken down (because of a Bug)?
Here the newest ROM is lineage-14.1-20170422-UNOFFICIAL-kminilte.zip:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=149890
Latest files are on kminilte.tk. It would be nice if all the devs in this thread would put their builds there, at the moment it's just a mess ;)[emoji14]

Code:
Installing zip file '/sdcard/lineage-14.1-20170528-UNOFFICIAL-kminilte.zip'
[COLOR="Red"]Updater process ended with ERROR: 7
Error installing zip file '/sdcard/lineage-14.1-20170528-UNOFFICIAL-kminilte.zip'[/COLOR]
What TWRP version did you use? The TWRP 3.0.0 which is mentioned in the opening post? At least I use a 3.0.x version at the moment and it works. So 3.1.x should not be required.

We already started to set up a Jenkins build server. Unfortunately it will take some time until it is ready.
When this is done the nightlies (or weeklies) will be stored on a common server. This way nobody has to manually build LOS anymore.

A new build is available:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=961840155545570720

It turned out that the patch found by Spookcity not only fixes Firefox but also the fingerprint bootloop. So the new build should be usable again.
As the initial bootloops probably were also caused by the fingerprints it should not be necessary anymore to wipe everything (although still recommended).

Changes:
  • Firefox crash&reboot fixed
  • Enabling the fingerprint reader does not cause bootloops anymore
  • Ambient display option added (disabled by default)
