Hi all,

I installed the latest ROM CP and BL from Panzerknacker's link together with pico gapps on my wifes phone.
She was tired of the #%^@#%@-samsung bloatware and the unwanted advertisement etc. and was complaining and nagging all the time.

But now... her phone gets stuck almost daily. She gets a black screen with a blue rectangle on top on which date etc is shown. She cannot do anything with her phone anymore, if someone is calling her she hears the phone ringing but cannot answer the call. The only thing she can do is remove the battery and start over...
On top of this, modem connectivity is cutoff regularly, if we switch of and on mobile data then it is good to go again.

As a result... I get even more complaining and nagging than before!
If someone is able to help, please do!

Does this rom still have an active developer? Does it makes sense to try and catch a logcat?

Thanks in advance!

@tha_G

I have seen those symptoms before on a friend’s phone, so it’s not an isolated case. The latest clean install seems to have reduced the problems to close to zero, but I honestly couldn’t say why. Maybe other people have seen this too and can shed some light?

Thats is the Flip-Cover option and can be disabled in the setting. If you happen to have a cover with a viewing window thats where the clock would be visible. Sadly, without the appropriate cover, this behaviour is activated as soon as the phone is in contact with a magnet and obviously can't deactivate.

Maybe this has something to do with the "partitioning" of the internal storage. There was once (you can read about it somewhere in this thread) a problem where you had first to install the latest stock rom and after that you were good to go for any custom Rom.

Many thanks, that will probably fix it and be a major improvement for my general stress level :D
She has a magnet on her flipcase but only to keep it closed.

I searched the forum a bit but did not find anything conclusive. She comes from the latest 6.x samsung rom and most of the time mobile data is ok. But then suddenly it is not anymore (adding a cross to the mobile data icon).
The strange thing is that sms's are also failing then. Disabling and enabling mobile data again resolves the issue for minutes to hours.

Im currently on the latest build by hennymcc. Im having the latest official TWRP Version and no special kernel, bootloader or modem. Can I just dirty flash the latest build by Panzerknakker?

Should work. Anyway: A backup before flashing is ALWAYS recommended.

Is the g800A compatible with this?

Looking all over the internet I can't find any discussion on if the G800A will work with this firmware.. It isn't listed on the title and I'm not sure how to search in threads here [[actually i just found how but there were no results although maybe thats javascript being wonky idk]]... maybe this is a stupid question but will it work? From what I compared the specs on these phones seem identical the only difference being the G800A is an AT&T model...

Need a phone quick to replace a broken one and I like the size and price point on this model. Although if anyone knows of any similarly sized phones <$150 that work with LineageOS I am open to suggestions. Kinda feeling very lost right now lol, I didn't expect to have to get into custom firmwares with such haste but I've always meant to get to it one day which seems to be today.

Your problem sounds familiar to me:
Please look posts 1610 to 1618 and 1648 in this thread if my mentioned problem is similiar to yours.
The mentioned S5 minis in my family do all have the latest modem firmware and LOS 14.1 was installed with a complete wipe. They do not have any problem with mobile data or SMS any more.

I hope it helps!

Thanks for your reply,
I did read these posts but they did not help because I already performed a complete wipe and updated BL and CP before flashing this ROM.
To be honest, I get less complains from my girlfriend now since I disabled the flip-cover option (@a-dead-trousers, thanks again ;)) and I don't want to trigger this by asking, so... at the moment my stress-level is normal again... fingers crossed! :cowboy:
