The 8.9 is the perfect size in my opinion. Samsung really needs to keep attacking this niche and exploit it to the fullest. The 10.1 is a bit clunky. That was the main reason why I strayed away from buying a Motorola zoom when it first came out.

Agreed! 7" is too small and with 10" you might as well get a ipad - no..... 8.9" is big enough and small enough!

I have an iPad and I just got an 8.9 for $170 and a 7+ for $130 (both were Best Buy store display models). I'm selling my HTC View 4G and Transformer now. Ipad I mainly use at home and I have it because of the app selection and jailbreak ability, 8.9 for the uniqueness of great size/weight and 7+ because it fits in my pants pocket and can mount easily in my car. Love the recent ICS updates on the 8.9 and 7+.:)

The 8.9 is a perfect size. At least for me. So it's a shame if Sammy discontinues this fabulous piece of hardware.

$170????? I need to go to BB more often!

I've been waiting to see if the 8.9 would get the ICS update before I committed, and ended up ordering the refurb bundle from walmart today for $279.

I originally bought the 10.1 GT2 $379. Used it for 3 weeks then I took it back because it seemed too big. So I bought the 7" GT2 $249 and was less than impressed with it's touch-screen sensitivity, and yes, it was indeed too small. After 1 week with the 7", I went back and bought the 10.1 GT2 again, and although it performs extremely well with everything I've used it for, I am going to return it. (Gotta love Costco) FYI - Costco has the 10.1 for $40 off 8/16/12 through 9/9/12 in-club only.

Everything I've read about the 8.9 indicates to me that it should be the tablet I've been searching for size wise. I'll have 15 days to decide!

has anyone had both the 8.9 and xoom M.E. 8.2" ? which one was best ?
thx
I have just bought p7320 (8.9 LTE ine my country) for Motorola Xoom ME2. It is too soon to judge, but at least you can see that I decided to do that.
Have to say that battery life was a huge pro for Samsung (I want to take notes with BT keyborad, so I wanted a device to work easily 5 hours). motorola would have been on the edge. I have compared performance (which was really only a notch better in Samsung). It is really usable a screen size wise, no big difference from motorola.

I am not disappointed for now. I wish I would stay that way. (the biggest problem is no ICS).

Perfect size

I own a Galaxy Tab 8.9 GT-P7310. This tablet is just the perfect size and feels also really light. Not too big, not too small. I really really hope Samsung updates it. An 8.9 Note version with Tegra 3 or greater would be awesome.

Sadly, nothing points to a continuation of these tablets.....I agree, and think they're the perfect size. I'm very thankful for CM10 and the devs working to keep them updated. This thing was trash stock.....for the one day it was stock lol....

Sad but true, I am indeed an avid Samsung fan, Starting from the S-1, and the now S-3 and also had my hands to 3 different tablets: Galaxy Tab P1000, Tab 7.0 plus P6200 and the now Galaxy Tab 8.9 P7300. All the huge switch from 7.0 plus to 8.9 at first made me thought that i got the best mid sized tablet (of which is true) despite its 1Ghz dual-core, i still picked this brand new unit all for the thought of that this unit will get the proper attention from Samsung despite it's less fame status of now only a few people have this type of tablet that Samsung produced and yet this month we never heard an update from Samsung about the Official ICS firmware (except for the wifi version) of which is overly passed due not to mention most tablets were already on JB. God i begin to hate Samsung's terrible support... I wanted to just move on and accept but i still can't ignore the fact that i made a huge mistake in choosing this tablet and dump my 7.0 plus. I'm Very Disappointed Samsung!

Tune in next week for another episode of "As the Tablet Turns". Oh my lord. It's a tablet people. Root it, ROM it and get the F over it.
Yes we all know here bud, and we all know how to root and stuffs like that bud ( not everyone here is dumb enough ), This is a thread of gripes and people here write their ill about the fated soon to be defunct units ( as i assumed it will be some time now ) that includes me. You don't need to be rude about saying stuffs like the magic "F" thing. you could at least say it in a nice way. Not all in xda members here needs to be reminded about getting a life, root it and move on per say, we are here to help each other and not flame everyone, I am not saying you are. but i feel bad for what you've said. If you feel tired about this then why comment and view this thread?

I thought the ICS upgrade thread was where everyone got their gripes out. Do we need multiple threads complaining about the ICS update?

Besides, what else is out there? None of the other tabs with similar real estate are as easy a carry as the Tab 8.9. The lenovo has 10.1" size and a crap screen. The Sony is still a bit bigger and not much of an update over it's predecessor. The Kindle HD which isn't out yet is a little closer but still big and you'd have to live in the Amazon eco or wait till it's rooted and rom'd with a more vanilla version of android. It's a shame this model was one and done. If they did it right and pitted it against the ipad mini, it'd be sweet. Just give it the 7.7 treatment and price it like the Mini. I know which one I'd pick.

Some don't mind losing real estate though, and the N7 isn't a bad way to go if that's the case with the upgraded models now. Just curious why threads seem to turn into bitchin' about firmware updates when it's easier to just root and rom and actually enjoy the tablet. People would rather settle for a sub par experience and complain on some sort of twisted principle than take an hour to take matters into your own hands and be done with it.

That's what I don't get. Makes zero sense at this point.

You are correct bud, i can't argue with you. But that thread you mentioned are for people who wanted the modded eg. already titled for the thread (of course everybody here will go there if they wanted too flash their tabs), rooted etc. Some folks like me who wanted the official Rom, I can't deny it's pointless as you've mentioned. And as for what you've said some don't mind losing real estate again i agree. But still you will find a few people who wanted their device upgraded to the official Rom's way, I have rooted all my tablets and used or tested bunch of Roms, except for my 8.9 tab of which i really don't want to use custom roms for some reason it's mine to keep. But if i said something that might have angered you or offended you, than i fully apologize, I am simply stating my thoughts and shared my gripes for everyone here.

Totally not personal. Sometimes I just provoke a little to make a point which came out in the previous post. And the thread I was thinking of was the official ICS one. Mostly the overseas people still complaining and maybe some in Canada. Can't remember. I have official ICS (wifi only), and haven't rooted yet. Too busy playing with the Note 2. But I'll have JB on it soon enough. One thing with the unofficial stuff, it's always better. Those guys spend so much time tinkering, streamlining and such, it just makes sense to go that route if you're somewhat technically inclined.

Good to hear about that, I understand. Well the reason why opted for the official stock was that i really don't need to have my tab 8.9 - be rooted and run faster or have better build like you said the "unofficial stuff" It's true though. Since i don't use that tab for gaming but for purely just web browsing and stuffs like that - videos name it. (off-topic) JB is nice and runs smoother on my S-III just didn't have the time to root though. Will opt for Note-II soon, but for now will stick with my S-III and Tab 8.9. How's the capacitive stylus and it's feel? is it better than Note-1?

We always root the phones first, the essential device. Speed, stability and battery sipping. The tabs can wait.

Can't compare to the Note 1, but so far the writing seems smooth. Went through some freehand on the note app, and it felt really smooth. I put one of those invisible shield type protectors on, and like the grabbier feel of it. We'll see how that works out long term though. Just feel like I need to protect that beast.

I mainly upped from the S3 so I could take sigs on order forms and email them off instead of printing them. Personally I'd like a premium 4.3" HD, S4 (minimum) slider, but I can't hold my breath any longer and the newer phones keep a better signal, roam a little better (since I have crap Sprint signals in some work areas) and have better battery life. Otherwise I'd still be using my Epic. Didn't care for the Photon Q. Can't do an embedded battery.

Since i haven't had my hands on note-1, but i assume note-2 is faster and smoother, i can't wait to buy autodesk sketchbook pro since i work a lot in graphics stuffs and freehand to digital sketching, that will replace my over-sized thick pages of drawing paper lol. thanks for your short thought.
