Hi,

Haven't touched my phone for months while waiting for a Knox 0x0 Lollipop solution to come up.

My firmware info:

Kitkat 4.4.2

Bootloader Version: N9005DXUENE4
PDA Version: N9005DXUENE4
CSC Version: N9005OLCENE5
Baseband Version: N9005DXUENE3

Rooted with Towelroot, Knox 0x0

I would like to upgrade to Lollipop XSP-N9005DXUGBOF1 while keeping root and Knox 0x0.

As far as I understand from catching up posts here, that is now possible with some workarounds. Could someone kindly vet my summary below and see if I'm wrong at any point?

1. Factory reset (Is this necessary?)

2. Download and save Lollipop firmware in phone.

3. Download and save SuperSU.zip in phone. (Do I need to do this since I already have root?)

4. Install Mobile Odin Pro (Can use Flashfire instead? If so, what should I do differently?)

5. In MOP, uncheck "Enable Ever Root", check "Wipe data and cache box", check "Wipe Dalvik cache".

6. Flash.

Do I understand correctly that the above will NOT update the bootloader which will remain KK? Can I update the bootloader after this using Odin? Is it necessary or advisable?

Thanks.

Do you update from a 5.0 or from 4.4.2?
maybe you can try wipe away all the data from the recovery after you done your backup?
it could be some of the apk that is incompatible with this ROM and need update? can check which apk drain your battery?
actually many possibility might could be the cause.

Note 3 updated with App optimisation

Finally know the reason of high battery consumption.
Is due the update of App optimization in control panel, it takes 3 days to fully optimize the apps.
Sometimes works and sometimes doesnt...

Those update and battery last less that half day, please check settings -> device -> battery.
You can try disable or customise apps for battery consumption rate.

nice! what are you using on your Note3?
thinking of setting it up as work phone
wondering whether to keep my rooted but KNOX safe Lollipop or go for custom roms
If you need secure platform for work, then keep knox and stock. Otherwise root it and you can go for AryaMod Lollipop v9.0 or AryaMod S7Edge MM port v6.5 (really nice UI). Get xposed module to run secured app like banking apps etc.

Anybody recently deknox-ed their Note 3 N9003 and then flash an AOSP rom on it? About a year or so back i thought of moving away from stock firmware but i was always defeated by the knox implementation at the bootloader level :/

    Edit:
Comparing the battery utilization the day before (4.3 JB) against last night (4.4.2 KK), with the app "Agent" Sleep mode on, KK performed better.

    1. To install KK from 4.3 u cant use MOP.

    2. Rooting on KK will trip knox.

    3. In order to use MOP u need root. Which will trip knox.
