I thought that the dev editions could not be bought with an upgrade. I don't have one available but it just dawned on me that I have a 64gb ifake 5 sitting on my nightstand that I can sell to fund my n3 dev edition.
You can't it's only full retail and nice sell that thing lol

I was on the fence about whether or not to wait for the Developer Edition Note 3 (almost bought one today), but your post makes my decision easy.
Even if you buy one you'll only be paying 100 bucks to upgrade to the dev one. Seems worth it to me considering this will be my device for a while

Only issue I have is not much support. Unless I'm missing something I can't find squat on s4 developer edition. Seems like we should be patient and live with this one until things get worked out. Can you flash regular Verizon roms on it? Knox on it? Void warranty still possible? Lots of variables

I think I'll wait and see how things turn out. Like it was said before, they haven't made that big of an impact because with an unlocked bootloader you can flash stuff, and that's good for you, but unless everyone else on the regular gn3 get a workaround, there's no point.

the whole think is that everyone should be buying the dev edition not the stock one.. personally im waiting on the dev edition there is no way this thing is gonna be unlocked like the s3/note2 was. the best that will happen for the retail version is root and safestrap and thats "IF" @Hashcode wants to support another device with SS

ps im f5'ing this page til its available http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones/SM-N900VMKEVZW

Ive decide once it does I'm gonna sell this one and pay the difference. Shouldn't be much more than a hundred bucks.

I didn't even consider it. I came from LG to a gs3 and touch wiz isnt bad. Especially after i loaded your ROM. Not going back to a smaller screen.

I think you'll easily sell your gnote2 after getting this. It's literally my most treasured device, along with my Nexus 7.

hello friends,

long time lurker, this is my first post, so please be gentle. :D

My current situation, I'm grandfathered into unlimited data and my bill would go up by 30 if I got a subsidized phone.

So my choice is really only full price. As others mentioned, they are not happy with VZW practices and abuses when the user has a locked down phone, including me.

So it is a no brainer in my situation, to pay full price and, if I'm going to do so, I believe the clear choice is the Dev edition.

Thanks to the wonderful work of all you awesome devs, I've being able to keep my Gnex up to date, despite vzw best efforts to keep it down.

Hope this makes someone's decision a bit easier.

I have the S4 as well and figure that can hold me over until you get your ROM up and running on the N3 DE. I almost bought the retail version today until I skimmed the forums and found this thread. Since you're planning on supporting the Developer Edition and I have to pay full price anyways... I figure it's better for me to hold out for a few more days/weeks.

There is not going to be much support on the Locked version either, so what are you losing?

Nothing. Even if a work around is created, your better off with a dev phone anyways IMO.

People who got their phone for cheap, with whatever glitch was going on, could sell it and pay the extra 100$ or whatever it comes out to be.

Bingo...best bet is to sell the locked version and snatch up a dev device. It will be a small section of dev work going on but better then nothing. If I cant unlock it I aint gonna rock it lol.
