Hello.
Back with a feedback about your instructions and a problem that I had:
I did the following steps:
1.I downloaded latest cm10 and decompressed to a folder
2.I copied the modem.bin that you provided and the updater.script that I posted earlier and then compressed back with 7zip, copied the zip to
my sdcard
3.I copied the recovery file on System/bin with Root_explorer
4.I installed ROM Manager and flashed Clockwork
5.I rebooted 2 times and did reinstall packages, then after that I got to the clockwork recovery
6.I selected install sdcard from zip and selected the image that I modified

The install then started but it halted to an error related to update.zip, it kept showing an option that said to select update.zip,
or some other options, something with adb and so on...
I kept on selecting the cm.zip but it kept on showing the error with update.zip, I selected update.zip but still it showed off the error.

From what I saw on the screen, the error was related to what it is checked in the updater.script, cm is looking for GT-i9010 but in
update.zip you have only captivatemd or something like that...

Are you sure there is no need of an modified update.zip archive on my sdcard too???

After this I got the battery out, put in on Download mode and flashed back to the Armani firmware, now it is back and running,
but I am so sad that I couldn't install CM10.

If you have any ideas why it didn't work please get back with some info, also can you check the updater.script that I posted or better that this,
can you post a modified working cm archive for Armani ???

Thanks a lot!
The reason it's not working is for safety. The CM zip you got is made for the GT-i9010, which is not your device, therefor, it doesn't let you flash it. That can be changed but my guess is that after you flash, your phone won't fully boot up (could be wrong).

Sorry but I think you didnt read the title of this topic.
This is the idea of the topic, how to modify a CM10 which is made for Samsung Captivate in order to be able to flash it successfully to the GT-i9010.
Thats why u modify the updater.script and replace the code for the Captivate with the code for the Armani..., and you replace the US modem file with
the European modem file

So from this point of view I think I did ok, but still it had that error related to update.zip file from my sdcard...

If the owner of the topic could read this and post an reply this would be really great...

You're right, I shouldn't have went through it without having coffee lol.

One thing though, you say you keep getting a error, what exactly is that error? Should say ''status ...''

Also, which version of cwm do you have?

Ok 10x for confirming...
So I installed ROM Manager and flashed last version of CWM, available for Samsung Captivate, don't ask me which but I know that it is 2.3.5 or something like that.
I can flash it again and tell you.
After that I did rebbot in recover 2 times and choose reinstall packages and then I got to the CWM recovery menu.
Then I selected install from sdcard and selected the CM10 edited archive.
It started to run the it showed an error with some options:
-one was to select update.zip
-other to select other update.zip from sdcard
-other was to send update.zip from adb
I tried to select update.zip from sdcard - didn't work
I tried to select CM archive from sdcard - didn't work
I tried option with adb and it kind of get in a loop where it waited

I think also there were some errors related to those getprop instrustions that are edited in updater.script ...

After this I put it in Download mode and flashed it back to Armani stock 2.2 ...

If you download updater.script that I posted earlier u will see that I replaced all codes for phones with Armani code, not only 3 like it said in another topic.

From what I saw, I think that the ROM is not fully edited for Armani, or maybe update.zip has to be updated in order to accept Cm10 ...

Please if you have any ideas get back :D

As far as I can see, you don't actually have cwm atm. Get in recovery mode and on top, it will say the version you have, post it here.

You should have a option saying ''install zip from sd'' or something along those words. Also, did you root your device?

I had CWM, I had the option to install from sdcard, I know it for sure because the CWM recovery has lots of options, stock recovery has only 3 options.
So I entered CWM recovery, I selected install from sdcard, selected from sdcard the CM.zip, started installing and then hit the error with update.zip

Anyway I can redo the steps and maybe take some picturea of the screen tonight, hope that I dont't brick the phone or something...

But hope that somebody has the solutiond and next time it will work straight away, without any errors.

We can't help you without knowing the specific error. You'll have to redo the steps (carefully) and let us know exactly which error it gives you.

Well, waiting for the owner of the topic to give me some hints, if not I'll modify again the updater.script and try to redo steps and take some pictures when the error appears.
I can also post here the updater.script file that I modify in the CM archive and also the update.zip file from my sdcard that seems to be related to the error before redoing the install, maybe you can take a look at these files and maybe see where the incompatibility may come from?

OK don't ask me how but I did it.
It did give the same error but I tried again and again, I selected
update.zip, the archive recovery. zip from clockwork folder, and then the cm.zip,
and finally it started working updating packages.
Then I rebooted and I saw the cm10 boot screen, now it seems to run.
I cannot understand which was the problem.
I cannot find the option to sync the contacts from my Google account in the cm menus...
I think I will have to copy the files in order for my GPS to
work properly...

Ok I did some more digging on the other topic reffering to Armani and CM and found the gapps archive for
JB, installed it and now I have Gmail, Contacts sync and Market.
It looks ok, these CM is so snappy compared to the stock firmware and so so many options...
This is already groowing on me, hope that everything will work ok.

I installed Navigon, tommorow I will give it a try to see if GPS works, if not I will replace the files for GPS that
were mentioned in this topic.

OK now reporting that everything is working OK, I didn't try the GPS
but I will do that pretty soon.
I still have a question about the Camera application, when I had the
stock Armani firmware, when recording video I had the option to select
multiple resolutions, both wide and standard format, but now I have only
2 options, HD and SD and I suspect that SD is 4:3 which I don't like.
So my question is if I can access more options for the video recording,
or if there is the possibility to flash the Armani Camera application maybe?
For the rest everything is so fast, I don't know how I managed
with the lag before.

Ok related to the Memo app that I couldn't restore with Titanium Backup, today I found the solution on google:
I installed SQLite Database Browser, extracted and opened the file Memo.db from the backup archive, then exported
to .csv this database, et voila I have all the data from my Memo application.

Quick question. Cm10 worked very nice but now it is getting laggy. What could I do to make it speedy again? Will a factory reset solve the problem or should I reinstall cm from the recovery reboot ? Of course I have Titanium Backup.

Chances are that if it was fast fresh install and is now slow that you have bunch of non-needed stuff cluttering it atm. You can start by removing the apps you don't use (make sure you get all their files as well). Once that's done, clear cache/dalvik in recovery. If that doesn't do it, you can try SD Maid app (in the Play Store). And if that doesn't do it, a fresh install should.

Hello and thanks. I have TB and xleaned from there dalvik but it doesn t seem to work.
Phone runs a little better after reboot.
Of course I could factory reset it and restore only apps that I actually need with TB, but I have some navigation software that I will use in late April.
So for now I will uninstall unused apps.
Any place that I should look for additional data that clutters my cm ?
Probably it is like Win if you don't fresh install afyer a while no matter what you do it will not work ok...
