any news? Is that program working?
You know, this program really made my WiFi signal stronger, but the main problem was not solved... Today I gave my phone to Sevice Center, they'll analise and flash the exact firmware. They told i have to test my WiFi with another Wifi modem...
Now i gonna take my phone...

@ finito02: The problem is most annoying when you have to stream some data continuously (Skype call, downloading a large file, etc.) Try to listen to any internet radio for about 2 hours - it's almost sure that you will hear silence at some point.

I wonder if Samsung will do something about it, because it's a disqualifying drawback of this wonderful phone... And it seems that replacing it is not a solution for the problem. It makes me even more curious why for one user it's working like a charm and for other it's not, even after replacing the phone for a few times. Maybe it's due to specific router-phone compatibility issue? I have the problems on two different routers (Linksys and D-Link), today I will try with the third one but I don't expect it to start working as it should :(

I'm afraid there's nothing we can do about it at the moment (maybe instead of rooting the phone, but I don't want to do this now, maybe in the future when the warranty period ends).

Hi guys, in this days i have noticed a problem with my gsII.
Sometimes I have the gsII connected to my router but internet connection doesn't work.
I'll try to explain better what i mean... I start wifi on my gsII and use internet connection without problem. Then I set the phone in standby mode leaving wifi on. When after a while i want to use internet connection, it doesn't work. The telephone is still connected to my router but i can't use internet on the phone.
The only way to make internet connection work is to disable wifi e then reactivate it.
This is really frustrating.... :(
I've got the telephone from three months but only now I'm noticing this problem because first I used to disable the wifi and activate it only when i need it.

Am I the only to have this problem? Is there a solution?
Thanks to everyone in advance... any help would be appreciated :)
Buy a new router.

An hour ago i went for my SGS2 to the Service Center. They said we are still downloading the original official firmware from Samung. He said the size of firmware i more than 1 GB . I said it has to be 514 mb. But said no, you are wrong...

If they are right and it will help for solving WiFi problem, i will never flash myself another firmware... Only from Kies...

Buy a new router.
It's not a ruoter problem. Everyone in this thread have to buy a new router? I don't think....

Let us know...
Anyway I don't think this will solve the problem. I have KG1 flashed with Kies

Some thoughts .

Well known that some routers do not work well with the phone .

You have two sources phone and router
Test router with no password or security
Test a second different router
Test with stock firmware that came with the phone .

You say you are setting standby mode NO STANDBY Mode on the phone .
That you mean is phone sleeps .
I would turn WiFi sleep settings to NEVER .

Channel swapping should play no part set phone to same channel as router

My route would be wipe phone install KH3 firmware and test .

I was just thinking about wifi and connection drop. I was having this problem on my pc and was thinking it was my isp. When I rang them they directed me to the settings of my router. My pc is ethernet connected to the router, so it was not the wifi causing the problem. I will get back to you when I get to look at the settings when I get home. I do know the channel and security settings were changed but cannot remember the actual info.

I have been having the same problem and i tried different routers..different firmwares, modems and also different security settings on router. None of this has helped. I personally think that the problem has something to do with drivers installed on the mobile as this was the case when nexus one was first released too

I bought SGS2 two months ago. The WiFi problem appears every single day with my D-Link home router, but not even once at my office. Prior to SGS2, my SGS1, HTC's Desire and Legend behave the same. On the other hand, iPhones I used worked flawlessly (?!). Could it be general Android's fault, not Samsung's?

Yes I think so...If it is firmware problem, it means it is Android fault, not Samsung

I don't even know if changing the router would solve the problem...
But do you really believe that I have to change the router when three PC work perfectly with wifi? Why I have to change my router only because GsII has a problem?I think it's not normal...
It's not a router problem, it's a GSII problem.... and at Samsung Service could say what they want.
In this thread everyone has a different router but we have the same problem.
Maybe Samsung should release a list for compatible router with gsII........

Ok, I am back and with a twist to the answer. In the router I set the security to:

wpa2-psk [aes]
802.11 mode set up to 145 mbps
Channel set to 9
What is interesting is that I installed a ROM with a kernel that is known to cause problems and my wifi was in range then out of range and vice versa, all the time kept changing the state of connectivety. It is ok now because I have changed the kernel. So beware, the kernel can cause wifi problems.

So, according to you it's a kernel problem? What kernel do you have now? I have official kg1...
On the router I also have wpa2-psk [aes] encryption but i haven't understand what you mean for " 802.11 mode set up to 145 mbps ". I have 802.11 b+g but i haven't any parameter of mbps that I can set.

If I understand..some people seem to be experiencing wifi connection drop outs and signal issues. There are many threads about having simply this.
I believe the issue here relates to wake up from connection idle or phone standby. In this case the connection does not simply drop out. The wifi connection is still 'there' just not usable.

Replacing the router may be a workaround...in the case where replacing the router is not possible it is not a fix.

I can't see that fixing an ip address or changing a router channel would work. The ip address should already be stored in the router and would not be renegotiated unless it gets reassigned. Most likely not a problem on private low turnover home networks. Router channel may fix signal issues especially where you are competing with other wifi networks.

Authentication still seems to be a potential un-diagnosed issue. Not seen so many comments about if relaxing wifi security has helped anyone..

It could be but if you are on official kernel then I dont think it is that. As for the router settings it is official that my settings were to blame for wifi dropping off.
