I did lose my signal and it came back 15 minutes ago. My router is 1 floor above me. It is on 1 bar at the moment. As I am writing this it went to 2 bars but went to 1 again.

I'm not sure I get your point. It sounds like you are having router/signal problems...

Wifi sleep set to 'Never'. Believe this is the stock setting.
3 diff routers with problems for one dude :-(
Clearly this only affects some people.
Have borrowed a router and want to test here. Keep u posted.
Been on to isp again today. New router yesterday. I am next to the router with my phone and yet not a full sign. I have changed the channels, unticked: firewall, ipsecpassthrough, pptppsssthrough, multicast, portscan detection and ipflood detection; thats what they said do.

My way of dealing with it has been to make the wifi sleep when the screen is off. That way each time I go to use it the connection is fresh.
It's a good idea if you don't have push email.

Let us know if, unticking all , the problem disappear... Just this morning I have tried to untick the firewall but nothing has changed (except 30 min of illusion)

It did not change a thing! I have also changed rom radio and it may be slightly better. Also, it is a known fact, that the antenna strength signal is wrongly reported on the sgs2.
I had my cpu undervolted too, I changed back to stock but it did not change the wifi. Might try a stock rom!

Not wanting to sound overly rude here but you are not running stock rom and uv cpu with a router that doesn't seem reliable.
You really need to work on getting a stable testing environment without meddled firmware.
Edit: check your setup with something that you know works first...

I was running stock rom with a new router. I can comfirm that the os is not to blame for the weak wifi, unless there is a bug which is consistent in the roms that I have used.

I am downstairs, away from the router and I have 1 bar showing out of 3. I have a ping of 50 millisecs and download of 5 megs. 5 minutes later 2 bars on wifi, ping is 27 and 10 meg download. I give up!

Now you're getting somewhere. :D

You've finally realised that nothing you do will have any positive effect at all. Congratulations, yuo're now where I was two months ago. I gave up too. ;)

I am on a train at the mo. My wifi connection is much better than my router, even when I am sat on top of it. The router will be sent back as I am not putting up with something less than full strength. Wifi on train = -40 db, at home, next to the router = -60 db :(

I was in the situation as many of you but the problem was solved by using CM7

I've just discovered another really strange thing...There's another way to make wifi connection works again when the bug happens.
I usually have "data connection" disable because I don't have data-flat on my phone. Moreover I have a fake apn for data connection and use the correct apn only when i need it. This means that if I press the power button for 2 seconds and active "data connection" gsII still can't connect to internet because the apn is fake.

Now the strange thing is this... when the bug happens, if I switch on and off the "data connection" (so I don't touch in any way the wifi settings) internet will work again!
I'm without words.

At home I use a Cisco WRT-320N and never lost signal in two months. At my work I don't know which router they have but I keep loosing connection after wake the phone. It's WEP security btw. At home I use WPA mixed.
The strange thing is I had a Nexus S before and I had the trouble at home and at my work. So at least the home situation is better now. But I want to have it stable everywhere grgrgr.

I pointed this out in my 3rd post :). Its strange I agree. Maybe someone who understands more about the way the software works can explain..

I can now say that the connection sleep issue happens with my second router. So that's a DLink and Netgear router I've tested. WEP has no issues but any config of WPA does.

I will go back to Samsung with new info. I would be very grateful if those running stock ROMs ONLY could post their firmware pda/modem/csc info here so I can forward it. Like mine XWKI4_XXKI1_OXXKI2 (get it via *#1234#)

I don't know what it's stranger... if this or the fact the androidVNC works always perfectly also when the bug happens...

My netgear seems ok because I changed the channel. Use wifi analyzer from market to see whois using what channels. I have never had this problem of the wifi loosing connection. I will monitor it; I will leave phone wifi on overnight and see if it is still connected tomorrow. I wonder if it is to do with deep-sleep on the phone and it does not wake up the wifi when the phone is used again?
