Locked bootloader or not, at least with the GN you don't have to worry about borking your phone's IMEI from flashing roms/kernels.

Currently there are many roms I'd like to flash, but due to the numerous replacements needed by people who have lost their IMEI I hold off. I understand that flashing has risks associated it with it but coming from a OG Incredible where I could go flash happy without fear (pretty experienced at flashing stuff) this just seems ridiculous.

If this issue does not get solved then it won't matter if Verizon's bootloader is locked. I really hope we can determine the cause or find a way to recover lost IMEI numbers. There have been no successful cases of recovery.

So there it is. GS3 is supremely superior hardware but the GN offers a normal amount of peace of mind when flashing roms and kernels. Of course the GN has a large developer base too, something this phone is beginning to nurture but will not retain should this IMEI issue go unresolved.

So the IMEI thing happens for GSM Galaxy Nexus users? Is this a Samsung problem?

You rarely hear it on the galaxy nexus forums. I have flashed 100s of galaxy nexus roms and have yet to run in to any issues. I am thinking about getting the tmobile gs3 just to check it out. If I don't like it I will just give it to my wife.

Galaxy s3 has better specs but I have yet to run into a instance that my galaxy nexus let me down and when android version 5 comes out let's see which phone has it first and which phone is treated like a red headed step child for months on end. Case in point, how long did it take the us gs2 versions to get a real 100% stable version of ICS?

I am not bashing the gs3 at all but come on people stop comparing it to a Google nexus device. Its not a nexus device so you are going to have to wait on the best developers (cyanogenmod) to port the latest android os and then wait for full functionality or wait for Samsung and then wait again on your carrier. But yes you will have a better camera.

S3 has removable battery. A micro sd card slot. 4.8 inch screen. Enough said. This is exactlt what made the difference in my upgrade. And if some people are worried about software upgrades. I mean really? We already have previewbuilds of CM10 on this phone. Which is of course JB. What more do you want?!?!! Lol
