So, it's ok to let the Location "ON" and just disable everything under "improve accuracy"? The battery draining isn't significant for location "on" or "off"?
I remember in Oreo we had the opportunity to set it on battery saving.
Yeah it's okay, there won't be any relevant drain unless you're navigating, if it's for local fetching like news and weather then there won't be any drain, that setting is mostly for Google's ad tracking.

I tried every single one of Google's apps and I couldn't replicate your bug, it stays off.
Did you restore through Smart switch or Google backup?
I did a google/samsung restore and oddly, that behavior has subsided since yesterday : at this time, no sync reenabling itself... fingers crossed....

Also, the battery drain seems to be a thing of the past, 10% or the day, going thru parameters, discovering the UI, disabling stuff : I'm on the same track of my previous S6 edge + before an asshole smashed it under it's foot nearly 2 years ago... It's so good to let behind me the #%[email protected] iphone 6 plus a friend has lent me since !

Anyway, thanks for your time (and the thread)

Added a "If you still have unexplained drain" section for all those who still have ****ty battery life for apparently no reason, it helped some and I will keep it updated.

Updated main post with new 15h personal record, I won't be doing it again to not wear the battery.

Thanks for this Corvo...

Are you using an exynos or snapdragon?

Also, when do you charge your device? How low do you let it go? 25%? 10 %? Do you charge until 100% ?

Also, do you ever do a full discharge (up to 0)? If so how often do you do that?

Thanks!

I also had this bug and it is due to the private DNS, if you turn it off everything will work again. Pretty weird

I did full cycles full 3-100% charges for a week to let the adaptive battery make form statistics for future usages, from now on I only charge at low power 50-80%, that would help conserve even 95% of the total battery health for two years.

I'm a very heavy user so more like 50-60% a day, whenever I sit at my desktop I plug In a limited 500mAh USB C and I top up at 80%, then it gets disconnected until it hits 50% again, that gap can last even 4h SoT so it could be considered a full day use on a day when I'm too busy to touch the phone for entertainment stuff.

that 50-80% thing only works if, once you run from 80 to 50, you never charge your phone again that day

Yeah I know, which is hard to do but definitely better than full charges overnight every single day.

Here is mine, snapdragon model, all 4G and about 50% screen brightness, mostly social media and gaming for the SOT. I haven't done any optimization yet but no idea how you get multiple days and 10 hours SOT that's unrealScreenshot_20190319-190002_Settings.jpeg

search online guys, there are several online studies/researches reg smart phone battery charging.. you should charge your phone when it reaches 30-40% and stop it when it reaches 80%. because anything above 80% the voltage will be high and it will ruin the battery life - not immediately, but gradually.

I'm using Full Battery & Theft Alarm app to set a min battery and max battery alert so that I can charge my phone properly.. oh and by the way once a month you must calibrate your battery.. i.e. let it go down to 3%-5% and charge until 100% - once a month only. That way you will have a very healthy battery life for at least 2 years :)

I followed the guide here and average 5-6 hours SOT during the work week and 7-8 hour SOT on the weekends when I'm on wifi only. Snapdragon just isn't capable of that kind of SOT. I have my doubts about the exynos being able to do the 10-15 hours I've seen in this thread. If that were the case no one would own any other phone in the market.

I tried to get adhell to work and for some reason the key I generated wouldn't work. I did follow the steps of modifying the apk also. I generated a regular key which gave me error code 201 and a backwards compatible key which seemed to work at first but the app crashes and when i open it back up I have to put the key in again.
