Galaxy S10/S10+ Debloat / bloatware removal list

Search This thread
OK it's 2021 now and One UI 3.0 (Android 11) is spreading widely. I would love to see if there is any updates to the list. e.g. Bixby is unlikely to be there. instead it's Daily.... and more I bet

following. As Package Disabler Pro is no longer working and button mapper (to assign bixby key to something else) is also no longer working, even not after reinstall.

Just a quick note, com.samsung.android.da.daagent is listed in "gimmicky" apps, but should be marked as important as it is actually Samsung Dual App feature that enables you to use dual Messenger, Viber, Facebook, etc... I did the quick debloat and had problems using dual Viber until narrowed problem to Dual App not being available at all.. hope it helps someone :)

Hi there!

I carfully uninstalled before some days some things from the bloatware List everything works fine and battery life was better then before.
Today i removed some more things from the list and now i have the problem that my phone boots up and everytime after 2 minutes it crashed.

It must be some of this things, which i had uninstalled:

pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.samsung.android.app.notes.addons
pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.samsung.systemui.bixby2
pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.hiya.star
pm uninstall -k --user 0 de.axelspringer.yana.zeropage
pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.diotek.sec.lookup.dictionary
pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.samsung.android.kgsclient

maybe also one of this

pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.samsung.storyservice
pm uninstall -k --user 0 android.service.health
pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.dsi.ant.sample.acquirechannels
pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.dsi.ant.service.socket
pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.dsi.ant.server
pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.dsi.ant.plugins.antplus
android.music
pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.samsung.android.forest

Can someone explain me how to reinstall? I want to try it with KGSclient but I Can't find the package.

Is it possible to "log" the loadprocesses or something like that?
Maybe it has something to do with the playservices, because i can see in developerinformation, it trys often to start the services close and start again.

Thank you all for every helpful hints.

PS I want to avoid a reset

Any clue on what command kills the gesture navigation on Android 11? Thinking I'm gonna have to leave samsung's whatever launcher in-tact. Not that, that bothers me like "Mobile Services Manager" or "Bigley"

Annoyingly you need to keep Samsung's launcher installed for gestures and the recents menu to work correctly.

Stupid question: Is this possible without root/unlocking Bootloader?
There is just some lines of code but no information how to execute them ...

ANT.SERVER

DONT DEINSTALL THAT.

I had all the same issues like you.

no there is no possibility. The only apps are those from your mobile operator (carrier apps) with branding, but you can usually remove them in the phone.

Otherwise you need root because Android has an app monitoring.

You can remove them without root,(Carrier apps/System apps/Any App) read carefully! you are NOT deleting them from the phone you are removing them just for the current user (User 0) that is the Android you "See" and work with everyday...the apk is still present on the device but is not used by User 0 (in this case You,and You will not see it at all and will be removed for You) and will not interfere with the system (but carefull what you disable,as with root or no root disabling/removing the wrong thing can lead to unintended consequences) With Root you can actually Delete the APK that is stored on the phone thus benefiting with more storage, but if you chose to re-install the app you will have to download it from somewhere, even if you factory reset the phone the apk's wont come back and that alone can lead to problems,by using adb you are effectively removing them from "YOUR" android but still have them on the phone in case you want them back, FInd the Package Name you want removed from the phone follow the instructions and you will be able to disable anything but again Be Careful what you disable

Hello everyone

I have a galaxy phone and it's lagging ALOT while playing some games.
I did some research and found out that the app to blame is the poorly designed game optimizing service (package name: com.samsung.android.game.gos)

I tried to disable it with package disabler pro, alliance shield X and ADB method, and got no success in all of my tries.

Even though after running the command: "adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.samsung.android.game.gos" via adb method it returned: "Package com.samsung.android.game.gos new state: disabled-user" the package is still active and running on my phone.

I also tried to run the command "adb shell" and then running: "$ pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.samsung.android.game.gos" which returned: "$ pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.samsung.android.game.gos
Success"

But same results, package still active and ruining my gaming experience...

Is there a way to disable this crappy package WITHOUT ROOTING my phone?

Please see my original post from the Galaxy S8 to see the XDA article on how to do this.

    https://xdaforums.com/galaxy-s8/how-to/s8-debloat-bloatware-thread-t3669009

New phone, new list! I've compiled a list of most of the bloatware packages on the Samsung Galaxy S10 / S10 Plus.

Just debloat what you don't need. Of course, this is NOT a complete list. Some have reported that Bixby is completely safe to remove, as well as, Pay but I'll leave that up to the community to discuss. I've removed Bixby and replaced it with Button Remapper app and my Bixby Button works great! I get single press, double press, long press remaps working 100%! It's the only reason why I like Bixby and it's because we get an extra physical button for our personal use. I hope Samsung never gets rid of Bixby, having an extra customizable button is invaluable!

BTW, if you change your mind and want to re-enable a pkg, then check the XDA article in the link, there's an ADB command for that too

Before you remove the stock launcher, please make sure you have another one installed.

    Code:
    BIXBY
    pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.samsung.android.bixby.wakeup

How to get rid of Bixby and remap the button for 1 press, 2 press, and long press... remove these packages:

    Code:
    pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.samsung.android.bixby.wakeup
    pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.samsung.android.app.spage
    pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.samsung.android.app.routines
    pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.samsung.android.bixby.service
    pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.samsung.android.bixby.agent
    pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.samsung.android.bixby.agent.dummy

I did not remove the Bixby Vision / Framework packages because then we still retain built-in QR, barcode scanning and other AI stuff from the stock camera app.

Then, install your fav button remapper app from the Play Store.

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=flar2.homebutton

For an explanation of what these packages do, please see this informative post by @Ace42:

Thanks and some tricks on this

    Hi!

Thanks a lot for this post. I've read all the +50 pages! (Which I deeply recommend prior to decide which things delete/uninstall).

I'm a sight disabled person and thus I don't like to have things I don't use. I need to keep things simple. I'm a system senior engineer with a high tech background in UNIX systems (and Android is a Linux variant created for SoC, so essentially it works in a similar way as other -IX flavors). Nevertheless, I'll keep this post simple. Also I'll share a small trick to reinstall apps quickly and two other simple tips for getting the most out of this superb phone. Read on!

I debloated various Samsung phones -also from other brands too- and found that the ADB method is exactly the same, it only differs in the brand-specific packages. Android and Google ones are generic.

As per my Samsung Galaxy S10 (8 Gb. RAM, 128 Gb. ROM, Android 10, last security patch, non-rooted) I debloated several Google items:

    - Gmail (I use K-9 Mail + OpenKeyChain) for PGP signing, all free, tiny and incredibly fast)
    - Chrome (I use Lightning Browser, buyed the Plus version to support the author, although the free one is as good and features an ad blocker)
    - Play Music and Play Movies, I do not use these - see below.
    - Google Duo (never used, so never mind)
    - Google drive (Heavyweight app -see below)
    - YouTube (I use Vanced + MicroG)

Other items I sent to oblivion:
    - Microsoft's OneDrive (Useless to me, enough with Google -usable via other apps, see below- and Mega, IMHO)
    - Samsung Notes (I use the Notepad app by Braden Farmer -free, tiny, simple). Here"s the Play Store link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.farmerbb.note

Now for the trick. The matter is, see, I debloated the Samsung App Store just to find that the Samsung apps like the Edge Screen app won't update, though they work well anyway.

So, as I'm using the File Manager+ app (find it in Play Store, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.alphainventor.filemanager) which has the useful ability to show the / (root) partition, and knowing that all the installable apps are within

    /system/app

    and

    /system/priv-app

is simply a matter of finding there the one(s) you deleted and tapping on the .apk to start the (re)install. That simple. You can use any file manager which allows you to see the / partition -there are several. But read a little more and I'll explain why I prefer this one.

This trick worked in all my Samsung devices, rooted and non-rooted like this one. Also with some Redmi 5, 7 and 8 I had. Curiously didn't worked with a nasty Huawei Mate 20 Lite which I have (I mean, the apps are there, in the / partition, but many of them won't install, still dunno why -but I will ;) )

I just love that small and simple File Manager+ app. It's very visual, tiny, ad-free and features an audio/video player (there are some video files it won't play, mkv I guess, but for that there's always VLC for Android) and it can access directly to your Google Drive account. Again, I purchased a license to support the author and because I need the dark theme -only available in the paid version).

Now a small note on how to record calls. Wuth my old J3 2016 it was piece of cake... There's a extra nice Open Source Call R0ecorder app full of options and with great recording quality. But from Android 9 on, AFAIK, it's not that simple. That app records only sikence. Google has locked that feature, who knows why... But, I've found an app which works fine. it's called CubeACR. Its Play Store link is https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.catalinagroup.callrecorder

The free version only record calls in amr format, but sounds great and even can record from VoIP (Whatsapp, etc). Only must follow carefully all the setup steps and you're done. Then go to the app settings and adjust other options like dark mode, recording delay etc. No root needed!

And a small goodie. Wanna avoid ads globally? Easy, non-root way? Good then. Setup a private DNS by going to your phone Settings - Connections - Additional Settings - Private DNS. Now set

    dns.adguard.com

Save, exit and enjoy! No ads neither browsing nor in many apps. Super simple!

There are a bunch of free DNS to filter other items (i.e. adult contents should you hand the phone to a child...). Go ahead and investigate by yourself. :)

Hope this helps. Cheers to everyone and all the best!

    CREDITS TO THE WHOLE COMMUNITY!!!

P.S. Sorry for my bad english. I'm almost blind (I see around a mere 10%) plus I'm somewhat rusty with my english LOL ;)

If anyone has a clue for the packages where I don't have what it is, please do let me know! Obvious disclaimers apply: I may have got the use case wrong, you may disable something you make use of if you disable this whole list, make a backup before you tinker, etc.

Bxactions required one or two Bixby apps on the Note 8, haven't tried it in a long time. Maybe things are different on Pie, or the app has seen many updates.

I've tried BXactions, not really a fan. I switched to Button Mapper:

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=flar2.homebutton&hl=en_US

I like it MUCH MORE. Plus, the free version is not crippled like BXactions. BXactions was a total waste of $$.

Rubbish. What's useful is subjective. I don't need Wearable for wired, that simple. But for you to feel so offended is comical, yet, the lack of respect is truly revolting. You won't make it very far with that attitude.

A group of friends is not an accurate sample size. No researcher would judge an entire market this way. Does not happen. Much of your ranting doesn't pertain to my comment. Must adore the sound of your own voice.

    +1

I don't get why people go into a thread just to trash it. The subject is DEBLOAT. If that's not something you're into, then don't friggin go into the thread. Some people are real losers.

DEBLOATING, the way XDA Developers show us how to do it, DOES NOT permanently bork your phone, it's so easy to re-enable the packages. That guy sounds like a drama queen. LoL
