you could try installing Nova Launcher and then change the background with that app. I don't know if that bypasses the O2 lock.

I'm waiting now like 6+ months for a safe and guaranteed way of rooting this GT-i9195i device but apparently there is none. In this thread are several people who reported to root their device using Kingroot app (?) but that doesn't work for everyone apparently.


Edit: it IS possible to root the gt-i9195i device!! See links in post below

Can someone post a screenshot with the CPU usage with no app & IM running? Settings -> Developer options -> Show CPU usage. Mine is idling at 10 (the first value) and I think it's too high, but don't know if it's normal...

Also successfully rooted my Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini Plus (GT-I9195I) with Android 4.4.4 KitKat using Kingroot 4.52 from XDA (NewKingrootV4.52_C127_B227_xda_release_2015_09_28_105243.apk ) direct from the APK on the phone. Purity installed, but not granted root access.

Root verified with Root Checker Pro. Knox Status verified 0x0. Enabled access to SD Card with NextApp SDFix from Google Play. Great to be able to fully utilize the SD Card storage again!

The Plus version has sooo much better battery life than the old one.
With the same usage scenario (a lot of Wi-Fi browsing, some reading, with long idle in between):
- Old version, rooted, Disable Service + Amplify: 2 - 2.5 days, 4.5 hours SOT
- New version, not rooted (yet): 4 days, 8 hours SOT!

February 2016 now. Any hope of ever getting CM on this thing (even Lollipop if not Marshmallow)? I still have a couple of days to return it and I'm thinking I probably should. Too bad; there really aren't very many good, small Android phones these days.

What would be needed to port CM from i9195 to i9195i? What could be reused from i9195? What has to be modified? Are there other devices we could copy some code?

Let's start a discussion to see what we already have and what is still needed.

I'm not a developer but I can try to build and to test.
Come on guys. Don't let the better hardware dye.

I9195I CM Porting

Just got an S4 mini, to discover it's the superior yet unsupported serranoveltexx I9195I. **** if I'm gonna run stock ROM on this.

Let's get CM support going, I'm pitching in. I'm a full-stack developer with experience in hardware hacking and embedded devices (mostly OpenWRT routers). I've never done any Android/CM work, but I can definitely help out given some experienced CM devs guidance.

So, bottom line, I'm in.

Any progress?

Just want to express my interest in a CM ROM for this variant as well. I bought the GT-i9195 on eBay and instead the GT-i9195i showed up. This quad-core variant would be cool with me if it could just be loaded with Cyanogen.

At this point, I'd be willing to make a decent donation to whomever could port this over.

To anyone working on this... Keep us all apprised. ;)

I don't know what is the main hindrance to porting CM.
Is it the lack of drivers? The chipset is very popular (SD410).
Is it lack of interest?

I'm not sure this would work for the i9195i, but from what I understand, the kernel may be the same/interchangeable and the hardware is supposedly similar.

Can anyone offer some insight?

So, I've tried CM11 in my I9195i. Good new ! CM 11 work perfectly on my device !
But the I9192i have dual Sim so my SIM Card is not fully recognized so data not work... But it's a good new for I9195i users [emoji1]
