Galaxy S9+ Pie Beta

I had a bit of trouble installing Pie on my device. Since I have AT&T and AT&T devices do not get beta updates (the betas are internally tested by AT&T staff), I had to flash an unlocked U1 firmware to get the update. When I flashed the newest firmware for U1 using the modded Odin by Raymond, my phone legitimately bootlooped on the Samsung start-up screen. I, then, wiped the cache, /data and mounted the /system directory, and rebooted the phone. Voila! I was on Android 8.0.0 for U1, and then I signed up for the beta program through Samsung+ (I had to sideload the newest beta version of Samsung+). Within 20 mins, I manually checked the software updates and Pie was ready. And everything went smoothly after that.

Some steps to flash U1 Firmware

- Use Modded Odin
- Get correct firmware with the same or newer bootloader for your device
- Try updating the firmware using an OTA.zip file from SD Card or through adb sideload

Best of luck to all AT&T customers rearing to get Pie.

Hey there, also on an AT&T S9+ locked device. Currently on BRJ5. Am I correct in reading that we have no choice but to wipe data to update?
Yes. You have 2 options.

1. Flash to U1. That requires a wipe. Sign up for beta.

2. Side load the builds. You'll need to be on ARIB. You can Odin to ARIB or in my case, I Odin to ARI6, and sideload to ARIB, then sideload to K9 build.

ATT causes a wipe every time you side load. So if you stay on the U firmware, every time a new beta is out, you get wiped. If you swap to the U firmware, the Beta will do an Ota, which does NOT wipe.

If you don't care about video calling, wifi calling or Volte (not 100% on that one), go to the U1 firmware and hope the beta isn't full.
