just pull down the Notification bar. it's there. and you don't need to unlock the screen to access the NotificationsThere's no media control on the lock screen..I just hate unlocking my phone just to skip to the next song.

I plugged the phone into mu Ubuntu and even when it's pluged in I can chosse between removable media(MTP) and camera (PTP)No mass storage mode, and slide to adjust screen brightness are two things I miss from my old captivate.

That is the problem I have at work. I believe the issue is the WiFi access at work is blocking the phone from connecting to the Google servers. That is the only reason I can think that you wouldn't have instant notifications. My biggest annoyance thus far is that Gmail syncing with the Gmail app isn't as instant as it was on my old Captivate. Sometimes the S3 won't even alert me that I have new e-mail until I manually refresh the Gmail app. Not sure if that's the phone's fault or if Gmail needs to be updated.
It's currently not completely working for the SGSIII (the notification light remains green all the time when the screen is turned off), but if you can deal with that, Light Flow can fix it: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rageconsulting.android.lightflowliteThe vibration!!! No matter what I set the "device vibration" pattern to, it defaults to "basic phone" the 2 second long BZZZZZZZZZ instead of the usual 0,250,250,250 pattern of android. Drives me nuts. I was able to set it in my messaging app (tibu restore from cm9) for sms but gtalk, calendar, anything else that triggers a vibrate notification is an obnoxiously long vibration...

Anyone know of a way to override that? Even if it involves editing system files, I have no problem doing that. I just have no idea where to look.
I'm having this exact same issue with both the stock browser and Dolphin HD. So weird. Unfortunately I have no idea how to fix it...so far so good the only problem i have is my internet explorer freezes when i go to facebook(web not app) esp when i click on a picture post....doesnt seem to freeze on any other sites? anyone have this issue or have any ideas??
Oh yessss that fixes it... and turning off the main led control in the app makes it not go green. The notification led is still screwy but that's not as big of a deal to meIt's currently not completely working for the SGSIII (the notification light remains green all the time when the screen is turned off), but if you can deal with that, Light Flow can fix it: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rageconsulting.android.lightflowlite
You can set the vibrate and notification sound and all that stuff for most regular apps in the free version. There's a paid version that takes control of just about every app, I think. But the dev is trying to figure out a "color shift" issue or something. http://www.folioflow.com/ff/page/website/lightflow/pageId/1826
This was annoying the crap out of me too, and then I realized you can change it through that method, as long as you can turn off notifications in the original app.
I think those of us with a DX are used to thatI love the phone, but have noticed that it isn't very well balanced for one handed use. By that, i mean that the top of the phone is heavier than the bottom, so I'm finding myself hooking my pinky finger over the bottom to keep it from falling out of my hand. You can really notice this if you put a finger in the middle of the phone and try to balance it. This probably isn't a big deal of you have large hands. I don't, so i can't get my fingers up to the balance point and still be able to type with my thumb.
