Lock screen wakes on every text

Drives me nuts. Listen to Pandora and have this beast in my pocket but everytime I get a text my lock screen wakes up and my cord or pen hits the screen and I feel like Im listening to a dripping faucet until I turn screen off with power button. Im sure there is an option for this. Just cant find it. Help anyone? Love the phone though.

Doesn't look like you can in the default app. I've installed Pansi SMS and you can modify if the screen comes on or not in that.

Wow, this must be the biggest newb thread yet. All you first time android users:
Install a launcher from market

Install ringdroid and make your own ringtones

Change your messaging tone to something else.. or push ICS tones to your device (if you even know how to root)

Turn off tap, screen, lock sounds under menu settings/sound

The power button wakes up the device, and also puts it into standby mode when pressed again

Did I miss anything?

I have been playing with my wifes phone, and she get's this all the times. Drives us crazy, seems to only happen when she is on wi-fi. I have been all through the settings with data roaming and nothing works.

Not rooted either.

Already fixed my issue with the nature themed ring & notification tones. Pulled all of the tones out of my nexus s4g and put them on my gs3. :D

1. Seems to have issues with both my back up apps not restoring the data correctly. I'm thinking it has to do with the file system change between the nexus s and the gs3. This may correct itself when I restore backups made on this phone rather than restoring from backups made on my nexus.

2. Go sms pattern lock no longer works. It only works the 1st time after rebooting phone or if entering the app from the notification bar after receiving a new message. If I open the gosms through the app drawer or shortcut, it bypasses the security settings. This is probably something that needs to be fixed with gosms.

3. While I am very happy with the way the screen looks, I would have liked to check out the different screen saturation settings that they had on the international version but removed from the sprint version.

I'm having an issue with my camcorder, where when I'm filming, it will keep refocusing, even if I am just filming a still object. It happens off and on, and will get blurry before focusing again, then repeat. It is really annoying and I can't find anywhere how to fix it. Anyone have a similar issue?

im annoyed by the sound the phone makes when dialing a call...that tone makes it sound like the call hung up and didn't go through..it needs to be more welcoming

Is anyone having issues with the outbound call quality? My friend called me last night from his new SGS3 (partially to rub it in he got his) and he sounded pretty muffled. Possible he could have been on speaker phone but I didn't ask.
Yeah, both my wife and I have that issue. We played with the EQ settings and it sounds better to us, but still slightly muffled.
