Galaxy SIII Annoyances Megathread

I sort of expected some sort of fun with geocaching or somesuch, or a bird ID app or something. The nature thing is pretty uninspired. I can't figure out why they did the water-drop unlock screen and no live wallpaper to go with it. I would also like to have seen a nine-drop pattern unlock. I mean, the animation is here, just duplicate it. All in all, I felt like the nature theme wasn't fully thought out nor fleshed out, except for one thing*. Yeah, including the ringtones. Maybe before I go the CM9-derivative route I'll gt out and record some birds, a rainstorm, and the stream down the street. It seems as though Samsung could have had a company contest and gotten all their ringtones (he who recorded it names it) for free & fun all around. Guess not.

*Here's a catch 22 I'm dealing with. I'm a screen-protector/case fanatic. I'm hard on my gadgets, and when I don't cover them, it shows. I absolutely adore the feel of SwipePad with the curved edge of the screen - it's a gorgeous meniscus , and it flows so nicely from the edge. A case will kill that.

Mine doesn't brighten up using the notification bar, either. There are several other CM9 features I have on my old Vibrant like that which I miss, too. I kinda thought now that Steve Kondik is with Samsung they'd do more of those. Meh, it's temporary.

I'm not sure how I feel about the relatively low volume rocker. It seems more ergonomic, but I for now I'm having to engage my brain to hit vol down instead of vol up. Anyone else?

I, too, amn't liking how the screen sort of rides the middle of the brightness scale. I feel like they got pretty hung up on trying some things too see of a screen would last, and they used the S3 as a guinea pig. I'm hoping I can get the two years out of it and still go both dimmer and brighter with it without killing it - for some reason, I don't think it's entirely limited by the hardware. I guess I'll find out.

BTW, there's a setting that changes the time that the softkeys stay on after you touch the screen. The 1.5 sec setting does get pretty annoying, and doesn't make a ton of sense.

I'm tired of blue.

The number of variants might a well have made this 12 different phones. I was really hoping for some unified efforts at development, and although there will be some overlap, the dev side of things won't match what the prolification of the brand might suggest.

I know I have a ton of apps, and many of them have services attached, but my gapps is already force closing. I mean, why the heck do I have 2gb RAM and 12gb space? To run 3 apps?

I love reading how things are never quite good enough.

EDIT: my Tmo dialer/history shows the Google Voice bridge number instead of the number of the contact. It's Tmo, not Samsung, but it's a huge PITA.

1. I HATE the stock keyboard! Its really annoying having it start to guess what word Im trying to type and confuse me on whether or not I accidentally typed in the wrong letter(s) or not. Changed it with another one.

2. I cant change the brightness with the notification bar anymore!!! ARGH

Other than that, I love the phone.

For the first two days my phone worked fine. Now my Wi-Fi only picks up certain networks and not all Bluetooth devices are supported. No one can hear me while on my Motorola Infiniti if I have the phone on my waist. If I hold it up by my chest it's perfect. That defeats the purpose of Bluetooth. I think the Bluetooth 4.0 devices are having problems. I have an Evo Lte and it connects to all my Bluetooth devices but it most definitely doesn't allow me to move around a room. Anyone experiencing this?

Anybody else having a problem with the text message notification sound? the sound doesnt play the whole ring tone noise and just cuts off almost immediately after it starts, I thought it was from the mute/pause motion and it being in my case but i turned all of that off and it still does it even out the case....im using the default notification noise and havent rooted or nothing like that....kind of strange
i have this same exact issue, quite annoing. Also, when i set a custom notification for calendar reminders, it always goes back to the default

This is my first touchwiz experience and its a mixed bag...

Either the widgets are dumb, or I'm dumb, but for example in the S memo widget, if you go in from the widget to the app and make a memo, next time you go in from the widget it takes you to that new memo, but from there there is no way back to the main screen of the app, the back button takes you home and the back button in the top corner takes you to homescreen as well...

This is an issue from the music widget also, can't get to the music home screen of the app from widget access, wtf?

It's probably my own stupidity, but I've tried everything...

Anyway the dialer screen after a phone call bringing up that contract screen is annoying

Regardless I love this phone

Only problems so far:
Screen turning on when text message is received.
Volume rocker rattles.
Stock keyboard is the most vile keyboard I've ever used.
Back soft key is very noticeably brighter than menu soft key.

Always failed to see why people can hate touchwiz so much that it sounds like they are getting a root canal every time they use their phone. I've used iOS to Bada to Sense to TouchWiz to whatever Motorola calls their thing to Pantech, etc. It's a freakin grid of icons. You can swipe through pages, or scroll through them. Tap what you want, and it launches. That's it. That's ALL it is. The swiping direction may change, the colors or bars or transitions and aesthetics may change, but its still as basic as it gets. Honestly I think people who complain about this and go to great lengths to denigrate something so frivolous, only to champion something else that looks exactly the same and does the same thing, are ridiculous.

Only thing I cannot stand is MMS pictures containing multiple pictures in a sing MMS showing as a slideshow. I currently am using handcent, and it's the same thing.

Was a problem I couldn't find a fix for on the gs2, and I'm sure that will remain the case for the GS3.

Why would you put your keys and your phone in the same pocket anyway that's just asking to get scratched, you have 2 pockets for a reason.

Oh, and to contribute to the actual topic. Not sure if it is just my WiFi strength or what but everywhere I go I only ever can get 2 bars on the WiFi notification, it seems that it works fine with 2 bars (can drop if it goes down to no bars). I don't know if it is just me or the 2 bars represents a better signal that you would think from a 2 bar connection.

I'm having an issue with my camcorder, where when I'm filming, it will keep refocusing, even if I am just filming a still object. It happens off and on, and will get blurry before focusing again, then repeat. It is really annoying and I can't find anywhere how to fix it. Anyone have a similar issue?
I have as well. Funny thing is when I watch it back you here me in the back ground saying "focus, focus, focus." Can't wait for a fix.
