Game playing screen resolution - too high, text too small

Lots of games I launch tend to have really tiny fonts.
Example: Imperium Galactica 2
Most of the fonts are totally unreadable.

Lots of other examples of games like this though.

I suspect it's down to screen resolution; the games mis-read how big the screen resolution is. Anyone any hints for what I can do, other than contact the developers, which I do, but it gets boring after a while contacting each one...
