Tnx, this produces slightly sharper images compared to stock cam (but has more noise).
Unfortunately HDR does not work (HDR icon has to be checked in viewer in order to work).
I've found other versions of gcam but all stopped working if you try to enable HDR or change HDR settings.

Strange, I am using the GCam in discussion here with my 8X, and HDR+ works or at least seems to work (I have the HDR+ icon visible in the header bar of GCam), I can deactivate it or put it automatically as well.

So thank you for this, I have been using it for a couple of weeks now (and gone through Christmas using it!) and it is definitely better than the stock cam.
As stressed by Androidzor in a previous post, images look sharper, there is also more noise, but globally I consider it makes a fair quality balance of what can be done with the physical cam of the 8X which, as we know, is not the best one.
I always loved gcam and used it on my previous phones (Nexus 5 and 6), it is simple, fast and performing, I think in general better than any stock camera. I hope we find some more ports for 8X in the near future.
I can also turn hdr on and off in the viewer. But it actually is not working. There should also be a small check icon inside the hdr dot that indicates that hdr is active when turned on. It does not do this on my device.
Other gcam versions are unstable with bsg mod settings where you can change hdr settings. One time i was able to make a picture but the app always crash and does not work after that. Picture was amazing. The hardware is very capable.
Still without hdr gcam is still better than stock. It always has more details and is more consistent.

Portrait mode not working for both front and rear cam and normal photo mode not working in rear cam. Only panaroma, front selfie and video recording is working, but the results of these three are pretty much similar to the stock cam, no difference i can observe in the honor 8x after using the gcam version shared by the above member.

Results are similar to stock cam for the gcam version shared by above member. App crashes after turning on the hdr+.
About the HDR thing....
Have you tried/compare pictures using the HDR feature of the stock cam? To me it does not make any difference. Just am curious.
Gcam HDR on my previous phone (Nexus 6) was actually making a great difference, light/luminosity and contrast were greatly enhanced.
Concerning the link you post, does this gcam port allows the effective use of HDR? (will try it anyway to see if it save pictures on my device)

But there is a problem that in the portrait mode, the colors are a bit off... And regions with extreme white color become pinkish completely. On the other hand.. Hdr+ works only in portrait mode. And the clarity and noise cancellation is far far better than the stock camera. After increasing saturation and warmth of the little bit off color portrait shots you will find the pics comparable to the gcams of poco f1 and one plus.

I am still hoping a working hdr+ gcam coming soon. Because the weakest part of this great device is the back camera...
Hdr+ is working in the gcam but only for portrait mode. Check the description i have given above.
