Hi, does CM 10.1 Alpha work flawlessly or are there any downsides like battery drain, gps not working etc? Thanks for sharing your experience!

Hey dude. For me CM10.1 is good enough. Bluetooth ok HPS ok battery drain depends on you though JB roms are really energy hungry than GB rom. Wifi ok. No lag depends on the rom. Choose light roms. Hmmn.. Better to test it yourself though. :D

Sorry for late reply, CM10.1 can be used daily driver but it has a few bugs for me.

1. There is a screen flickering issue. When the screen is off, it flashes white randomly.
2. Also the wifi drops unpredictably, but it connects again after a few seconds.

These are the good things that I experienced from CM10.1:

1. It has ok battery backup. (though I am now using stock Samsung DDMF1)
2. It is the smoothest rom that I have used for SL.

---------- Post added at 07:25 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:09 AM ----------

I know that USB OTG is not officialy supported by Galaxy SL.

Is there a way to use it through softwares?

and now, it's ok, but i lose all my data :crying:

can you suggest me an application which can help me adjust the rotation sensor to fix this error if it happen again.

Battery not Charging after updating to 10.1, alpha 9

There is problem I am experiencing after rooting and updating my I9003 to 10.1 alpha 9. If I connect the phone to charger while it is on, it is not charging, I have to reboot it so that it can charge, or I have to charge while switch off. How can I counter the problem?

Thanks

Dude that was strange. Try reflashing the rom and clear cache and dalvik cache in recovery.

Few questions:
Which rom/firmware?
Which kernel? (Did you tried the kernel specified in the rom thread?)
Did you received any error while flashing the rom?

Also, follow these steps for flashing the rom.

Install stock rom (DDLF2 is a full rom, and is recommended). Then download the CWM file from the thread for the specific rom and flash it. Finally, copy the rom you want to sd card and flash using CWM recovery mode (volume up + home + power key). Do a factory reset, wipe battery stats and cache. flash fix for wifi issue (if it happens). enjoy.

Come back to another CM or update... Impossible

**Don't want to read a lot read after the bold. **

Hi, yesterday I finally tried to install CM 11 by dhiru1602, I Installed 20131207 update.
I had KPU STOCK firmware with CWM 5.0 and root
When I did the update to CM, first something happen and update the CWM to 6.0, and after the SDCARD doesn't works to update, I put the file in the Internal SD and I had done, CM11 works fine... but:
After 2 days of testing, I found a lot of problems:
* Random Restarts
* Battery life very low after this update
* Photos without manual focus impossible
* 3rd Party camera apps doesn't show SD card
* System doesn't use SD card
* File Manaller doesn't see SD card inserted
* If you make a format of the SD You will got a system.mui problem and restarts
* Don't goes to sleep mode, If I recived one email the buttons switching on and never foes off... (Changing preferences is possible to change)
etc,etc

The ROM is good but now I want to try another.... BUT ... and HERE IS MY PROBLEM:

Now I put new update for CM11 20131209 in internal SD card
Put the phone on with HOME+UP VOLUME+ON (pressing forever) LOGO AND BLACK SCREEN (pressing 1 min) RESET NORMAL

I can't enter in recovery mode... some kind soul could help me?
thanks

GT-i9003L

Hi, instead of a GT-i9003, I have a GT-i9003L (I think the L stands for "LATAM" (it's fom Movistar Argentina)). I was wondering if the root procedure with ODIN was the same for the two models (SuperOneClick failed for me). And if I can root it with ODIN, which is my firmware or where can I find it. The same question goes for custom ROMs, can I install a GT-i9003 ROM on my device?

Maybe this helps: Model number: "GT-I9003L", Firmware version: "2.3.6", Baseband version: "I9003LUBLH1", Kernel version: "2.6.35.7-CL1179133 [email protected] #1", Build number: "GINGERBREAD.UBLH1"

Thanks

urgent reanimation measures needed

Hey there!

First, I'm blown away how the community came back to live again.. Some 15 months ago I couldn't find any more devs on my beloved 9003 and now this.. so thanks so much in the first place! x)

Why I need your help: as I said, some 15 months ago I dived into rooting and modding the first time and brought my phone to the wonderful Version:

aokp_galaxysl_mileston-6

Kernel:

2.6.35.7-CL615624
[email protected] #1

I wanted to go on and dive deeper, but as it seemed to me the dev was dying and I setteld on that version..

Now different things happened:

- I got a pebble and I can't connect it, seems like the bluetooth on the phone is not working (correctly)
- I can't connect to my computer! When I plug the usb, I hear the connection sound, but nothing happens and the phones doesn't show the connection option
- The overall performance of the phone dropped over the time

Soo, my big question is: How can I get a new mod on my phone without having the usb available and is there any mod nicely going along with the pebble (or any other bluetooth devices)

Thanks again a lot guys (and all beautiful nerdy hacker girls), keep it up, the noobs in the forum world will admire you forever!

INTRODUCTION: Hi! I noticed a lively i9003 general thread again after a while. Its been a month since new comers/noobs post a thread asking on such things. Ive come to think in making this thread to answer your questions, explain what you dont understand and etc. Feel free to ask questions. Again THIS IS FOR NOOBS ONLY

    Requirements:
    1. Samsung KIES installed
    2. ODIN v1.85 installed
    3. Cable Connector
    4. Samsung Galaxy SL i9003 ONLY!

Before proceeding make sure you have met all the required items above.

Guide on how to upgrade to 2.3.6 firmware also known as GINGERBREAD

    1. Make sure your on 2.2.x firmware (FROYO). Go to settings then about, look for android version.
    2. Once sure, download XXKPE and XXKPQ (You may choose any 2.3.6 firmware but XXKPQ is the most used if not mistaken) here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1004647
    3. Download ODIN http://dl.xda-developers.com/attach...7861c364/5059c595/5/8/1/9/1/3/Odin3-v1.85.zip
    4. Then follow the guide here CAREFULLY! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1133787

Once done, you're now in gingerbread. You may want to ROOT it now, so

Guide on how to root any Gingerbread i9003 firmware

    1. Turn off the phone, go to download mode by holding power + home + volume down.
    2. Once in download mode, open odin then connect to pc.
    3. Check if your phone is detected by odin you must see color yellow in the box with the port no. and a word "Added!" in log screen.
    4. Download bagaria.tar in here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1351056 or in here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1331253 choose what fits your firmware example your in XXKPQ choose xxkpq cf-root.
    5. Click PDA then browse the .tar file. Then Start.
    6. Wait a second and phone will boot itself. Your now rooted. But you need to wipe cache in recovery mode to do this hold power + home + volume up then clear cache and dalvik cache. Reboot. Done.

    How to Overclock i9003

Overclocking is a procedure wherein we push the limit of our CPU, the current is 1000 ghz. The most stable OC is 1200 ghz. So the Kernel is the one responsible for doing this job. If you go to our development thread. You can browse search read there about kernels. For short, kernel is what you flash when you root it. Right cf-root is the kernel itself. So try browsing and choosing the kernel you want. Make sure its for GB firmware only. There is a kernel w/c is in .tar file, if you happened to see this just repeat the above step in how to root but if its in .zip,

    1. ClockworkMod also known as CWM is like uhmmm BIOS! in our PC. You already have this cause your now rooted. So next is,
    2. Save the file to your SD card example UCkernel.zip
    3. Go to recovery mode, hold power + home + volume up
    4. Install zip from sd card.
    5. Choose the .zip file
    6. Before rebooting, wipe cache/dalvik cache.
    7. Open wifi/if you dont have download it in PC.
    8. Download "No Frills CPU Control"
    9. From there you can now choose the frequency you want.

How to change rom from Stock to Custom Roms

ROM stands for Read Only Memory where your firmware/apps are stored. Also uhhmm it also has something to do with the User Interface. LOL cant explain clearly but once your rooted you can now try Custom Roms which can be found in dev. area.

You can choose diff. ROMS in dev area, make sure its GB version only. (I'll update this w/ ICS and JB if this thread is approved by the mods and devs). Installing roms is just like installing kernels with .zip file. Same instruction. :)

How to Change the Theme of your i9003

Well, Theming is for deodexed rom. A deodexed roms are usually Custom Roms. Stock Roms are odexed Rom. Go to your file explorer like Root explorer etc. Go to system/app and you can see your system apps there if you cant see any .odex file and only .apks then your deodexed already. Here's the link for our themes http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1369. Too many and i tell you, you cant really you choose from them LOL. Just try all those themes who suits your taste. A corresponding theme has its way on how to flash it. Just read Carefully though its not dangerous.

How To Go Back to Stock Rom from Alpha 4 based Roms

Make sure you have drivers installed in your PC

Just download DDLF2 here and flash like the old days. If not sure how, the procedure is included there http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2329200
No more XXKPE. Flash it directly.

Now if you want to try out other Alpha 4 Based Roms, flash first CM10 Alpha 4 by Dhiru in CWM recovery then flash the Rom you want. :) Goodluck!

    Feel free to ask! :D
