General Help- Battery Died on Custom ROM

Hey!

I am using the ViperOne 6.1.0 ROM with either stock or FlarPort Kernels (GPE 5.x / Sense 6.x depending on my fancy).

I recently let my battery die like a nit. Now my device runs hot, lags in games, and charges slowly. The last time this happened, simply loading up my nandroid fixed the issue. This time, I am getting no luck, and have tried both a factory reset + nandroid and a factory reset + clean flash. I tried the stock kernel as well, which still had the above mentioned issues.

Is there a standard protocol or step I should take in order to address this issue? It is beginning to really bug me.

The only thing that fully nixed this for me was a format Backup before doing it people! Hopefully this will become a resource for anybody else who encounters this issue.
