Hi, Abhi (coincidentally my name does not matter)
I reflashed my T-Mobile GSM Moto E 2015 with CyanogenMod 13 and TWRP. I tried to install google apps from TWRP and I get /unmount error about the partition still being in use. I would like to get the google play store on it
Please Help

Brute force BL-Unlock XT1528

Hi everyone!
I recently just bought a verizon moto e without the knowledge that it does not have an unlocked bootloader. Being a flashaholic (or modder?), I am attempting to create a script that brute forces the bootloader unlock code using crunch here (github)... As of right now, I need help in making the combinations and being able to rule out the ones that are not needed (like BBBB...B and etc). If there's anyone that can help, it would be greatly appreciated! :D

When I turn on or reboot phone it will boot into recovery (twrp-surnia-3.0.2-r1), but when I use fastboot it boots fine. Any suggestions. Thanks.

Did a very very very stupid thing...

Hey,

Hundreds of times I did this with no problem. But when your head is away bad thing can happen.

I flashed RETUS 5.1 stock ROM over my XT1527 Latin American carrier (possibly Movistar Argentina) . Flash failed. As it turns out I completely forgot to UNLOCK BOOTLOADER first. So I get the code and try to unlock, but the damn ALLOW OEM UNLOCK setting is turned off.

So here I am with a dead phone and no way to boot back. I can only go to (stock) recovery buth nothing I do there really makes any difference. So far I've downloaded two Latin American stock ROM images with no success (Preflash validation failed). However I am concerned that even if I find the right ROM, it will not boot either because of the downgraded boot.

Any options, ideas? Im stuck....Thanks in advance!

Are there any one click root options for XT1521 (India model)?

I have tried flashing SuperSU .zip via TWRP, and in the process it showed a "failed to unmount /system - busy" error. The flashing process was successful overall but phone was stuck on Blue M logo after reboot.
I flashed the 6.0 stock rom again and now my phone is well and working. I tried the process again but it gave the same error again. I flashed the stock rom again and now i just need a one click root option to get it over with.

Have you tried Kingroot?
Hope it works.

XT1527 update

When I first got my Moto E (xt1527, a US surnia LTE model) I immediately unlocked the bootloader, twrp'd and rooted the phone. All of this went smoothly. In April, I got a prompt for a security update, which I accidentally started. When the phone rebooted I was told the update failed. For a while I was stuck in bootloop/Google play services has stopped, but a few safe modes later that all calmed down.

Now I am getting the prompt for the update (23.201.2 patch I think) every day. In order of personal preference:
1) Anyone else able to get this update installed on a rooted phone with twrp?
2) Anyone know how to make the prompt stop?
3) Has anyone successfully flashed 6.0 on this model (I know some Moto E's got 6.0, but it seems Motorola is not rolling it out for this model)?

Thanks XDA!

1) Flashing stock recovery should allow you to install the OTA. Since your bootloader is already unlocked, you can flash TWRP again afterwards.
2) Besides applying the OTA, you can disable the Motorola OTA packages.
3) People have been able to flash it on the XT1526, another US model that isn't getting 6.0. Considering the Canadian XT1527 and the US XT1527 are the same device, you can flash the Canadian firmware with no issues (as long as your bootloader is unlocked).

Unlock the bootloader, flash squid2's custom TWRP (http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-e-2015/development/twrp-squid-twrp-recovery-moto-e-lte-t3137649), flash SuperSU via TWRP by following this guide: http://androiding.how/root-moto-g-2014-marshmallow/

Thanks!

Bit of a noob question, but will I need to root again afterwards, or is this not affected by changing the recovery/patching?
Shoot, totally missed that rooted part. I don't believe you can apply the OTA if you're still rooted. Believe you need to revert to complete stock (minus unlocked bootloader, it doesn't affect the process). Although, if you're planning on flashing the Canadian 6.0, it doesn't really matter since you'll be flashing complete stock anyway.

Ok I know I'm gonna hear it for this lol. But seriously, I can't find a working solution anywhere. I've searched the forums, and I can't find what I need. Google must be broke, as I'm having no luck there. This new thing they have going with this lock thing is stupid. When I bought the phone, it started up fine, and seemed to walk through the set up process ok.... Until I got home and went to fully set it up. It's asking for a previous linked Gmail. I called the woman I bought it from, and, uh, I never set up a lock thingy. The email I used was just something I made up, was the reply I got. So far, I'm screwed. Someone please save me.

SD Card compatibility

I'm looking to buy an SD card to expand the storage on my Moto E. The Motorola website only says that the card must be <= 32 GB, but doesn't say anything about compatibility with different speed classes. Does anyone have experience with different card speed classes? I'd like to know, just for budgetary purposes, what the fastest card supported is, so that I don't overbuy by accident.

I'm running a 64gb class 10 in mine with no issues.

The US Moto E only has the 3G bands used in the US. It does not have the 3G bands used in Africa. There is no official Marshmallow for XT1511, best option would be to unlock the bootloader and flash a custom ROM for "otus".
