Hi, folks. I have been wanting to upgrade my Moto G2 with the Moto G4. The performance specs are much nicer, but it appears that the Moto G4 does not have a magnetic compass. Specs-wise both have an accelerometer and gyro, but the Moto G4 lacks the proximity and compass that the Moto G2 has. Will this affect my caching? Thanks.

I don't think the lack of a magnetic compass would matter for that. Like Rempala said, GPS should be what you need and I've found the G4's GPS to be very good. I use my phone for a golf distance app and the G4 updates faster than my old G3 did and much much faster than the 2nd gen ever did.

There moto g4 has really good GPS, however does not have a compass. For Pokemon go it works great... Just does not auto justify the map due to not knowing what direction you are facing. However the GPS is very good at quickly determining the direction you are traveling. At this point it would be very dependant on the application you are trying to use.

So, in Pokemon Go if I was to be standing still my character would be facing north, right? If I was walking east would my character be walking east and if I stopped would he still be facing east or turned back to facing north?
