My son tripped while carrying our TF300T and the screen is cracked. It senses random touch events now, making it impossible to use the tablet. Is there a way to disable the touch screen and just use the touchpad or a mouse? I am fine with that, since I just use it for watching movies and playing music. The tablet is running nightly CM10.1.

BTW, a local repair shop quoted USD 200 to repair the digitizer. I'll probably just get a new Nexus 10 next time I go to the US.

I dont think so. Not software wise anyhow. Youre gonna have to disconnect the digitizer from the actual LCD if you dont want the digitizer functional.

I believe a new digitizer goes for ~60 bucks or more on eBay. Its not super hard to fix. Look it up on youtube. :) But yeah 200 bucks is insane to get it fixed. For 59 more dollars i bought a factory refurbished one from NewEgg.

The touch events are probably generated by a loadable kernel module that takes care of the digitizer. I could try disabling that module and just use the touchpad on the keyboard. Unless both devices are handled by the same module.

I should have posted this question on the General section instead of QA & Troubleshooting.
