I've seen them while charging and also while not connected to a charger. Very random turning the screen off and back on made it stop every time for me. One time I just watched it and it kept going and going lol

This has been happening to me since the first 1/2 hour of use. G4 amazon ads edition, not plus. Today, after not charging or using it at all for about 7 hours, I went to use it and it was having ghost touch issues. It hasn't been anywhere near a charger for 12 hours. There's a spot near the top center of the notification bar that's a bit hotter than the rest of the phone.
Exact same problem here and with the Amazon (32GB) version of the phone as well.
I'd really rather not return it since I was lucky enough to unlock the boot loader in time....

no worries

I got my g4+ just yesterday the only problem I'm having with it is that it gets extremely hot while charging for evn 10mins so I changed back to my old Sony charger n it's working just fine no heating issues while over iseage or gaming(online MC4) or charging either....
But it problem is different....
Still I suggest u to try using a 1A or 2A Sony or Samsung charger n it shld b fine....I guess
Its perfectly fine if ur device getting hot while charging as it is a fst charger..... Bt try and keep ur phone at some place where it can dissipate heat from its back easily avoid pillow, bed etc..... This will help !!

Ouch, I'm facing ghost touch issue while running Firefox or Whatsapp, at first days of ussage everything was fine, so I don't consider a hardware problem. We need a software update inmediatly.

EDIT: This helped me-
Go to settings- battery - battery optimization. Now set system UI and google now launcher to not optimized. And restart your phone.

That won't change anything, you're just making your battery life worse. Battery optimization is actually Doze. Not optimizing a certain app means that it will be exempted from Doze, which in turn makes idle battery drain faster.

I am on my 2nd MOTO G 4 32mb, Ive already requested another one from Amazon, but I may have figured out what was causing mine to go nuts.

It would ghost touch while not even plugged in, I tried everything from removing the SIM, to using the right charger, to rebooting.

I finaly removed an App "Good Works" from my phone, it is an app My work uses so you can use your phone for Work emails, Skype, Meeting calendars, and an RSA soft token. Its a highly secure suite of apps I heard was a resource pig. Once I removed that, Ive been trouble free for almost 2 days now.

For my Phone it was this specific app, but it seems like an App was causing it,, so take a look at your apps, perhaps thats the cause.

This occurs with a charger that supplies current at 2A for me. Ground the charger, or use a lesser amperage charger, and the phone works fine. The problem is with the charger, and not the phone. I believe you will face the same problem if you replace the phone. You can't get it fixed with a charger replacement either.

Of course, that is no justification for the issue.

Wow my moto g4+ got update today the size of update is 510mb
Anyone know what's new in this update?????

Same issue

Moto G4 XT1622 16gb with normal charger, no turbo.
The ghost touch stats when using the phone while charging and continue after the charger is disconnected, it stops when turning off and on again the screen.
Any solution was found?
Is this 100% a hardware issue or it can be solved with a Moto update in the future?

Edit: when im using the phone connected to my desktop pc it has no problem at all, only when connected to a charger, I also test it on two different chargers.

I don't have a G4 (yet, considering getting a Plus), but I might be able to take a little mystery out of this, at least for those connected to a charger...
Ghost touches are generally caused by chargers or USB ports with out-of-spec voltage ripple. Most standard phone chargers put out up to 150mv of ripple; if the one that Lenovorola supplies has poor regulation on its output, or the phone has poor/no filtering on the USB port and/or has an especially sensitive digitizer, this sort of thing will happen.

If the charger is poorly designed, the issue will be worse when charging from a low battery because the charging circuit in the phone will pull as much current as it can from the charger, stressing the charger's components (and possibly operating them out of spec if it's under-engineered enough). As the battery gets closer to full, the problems might let off a bit because the phone's charging circuit tapers the current down to cater to how li-ion/li-pol chemistries work.

The best solution, assuming the above is right, is to use a charger you know is strong and has good regulation. Alternatively, charge your phone using the passthrough of a quality powerbank (hook it up to the output port and your charger into the input); Xiaomi makes some good cheap ones that output stably. Powerbanks don't really care how much ripple goes into them as long as it's not enough to overly stress or outright destroy their conversion circuitry.

As for you guys who have the issue while on battery: dunno : \
Lenovorola might be able to decrease the sensitivity of the screen via software if that's the problem, but I kind of doubt it...the digitizer is driven by its own IC, and its parameters probably aren't accessible by the rest of the system.
