Gingerbread/ics miui

Hi everyone I shall be getting my Mrs gs2 in a couple of weeks and I am wondering is there a bug free gb miui or ics as i prefer it to jellybean and what is the best /easiest way to root and unlock the bootloader
A step by step would be brilliant if someone has the time including any links

JB is definitely better than its previous versions.However,if you really want to go for ics/gb i suggest you keep away from version 4.0.4 as it as EMMC brick bug.
