Now as Froyo for Legend is available worldwide, I think HTC should release the dates for Froyo for HTC Models.

Samsung has already announced the same for galaxy S on twitter...

Hmm not exactly...This thread is about Official Gingerbread release and news and views ...and froyo is mentioned in Title because of continuity needed for old thread...:) ... If u followed old thread for Froyo on Legend..It was just great...
It had everything from News, Latest updates, fights...etc etc..:)

Could someone explain me what new stuff we would get from Gingerbread?

From what I've seen, there's not really a lot of usefull things in it if you compare it with Froyo and Sense?

Not many changes that would effect the user .. the sense UI takes care if the new UI elements they mention , HTC's copy and paste is as good as the iPhone , so is the keyboard with its predictive input ... except for better power management I see no use in updating to gingerbread

Oh..Then I think its no point if gingerbread has no major improvements..sad google..:(

Overall faster operations and presentation, less latency in input operations, better 2D/3D performance, longer battery, better text selection/copypaste etc.

Doesn't sound too bad to me. Is probably less of a hassle to upgrade to 2.3 from 2.2 than it was to change 2.1 to 2.2 so HTC should be doing it, especially now when they've introduced a whole new world of bugs with froyo for legend...

I am hereby claiming dibs on the first "Will the Legend receive Honeycomb and if yes, when???" thread once we get Gingerbread, if ever...

It is not a matter of "can do it" or "should do it"...it is more a marketing issue. Don't think HTC will ever want to release such update, to "steal" the market from newer models. If Legend offcially gets it, who's gonna buy newer and more expensive devices? As those will be advertised to receive or to be launched with 2.3. CM and the rest of cooks here will remain our last and single hope...

Yeah as I said - they should do it.
But they're not gonna.
