Usually big companies like google use 1 company for their wireless. I would make an educated guess that it is tmobile

They do have the most Android devices and the most vanilla (or close to vanilla) Android devices. Next to Verizon, they are the most pro-Android carrier in the US.

Apple employees tell me that the company doesn't care what phone they use. And my friends at Google tell me that a lot of them use their iphone sim card and stick it in the Nexus. They don't have 3G but it doesn't matter because they're usually on wifi anyways.

So have I, but I want the black notification bar. Would really help with battery life.

The funny thing is that the second phone in the wild with Gingerbread isn't even vanilla android.

Really??? You really think the black bar will help battery life??? Is like 1/20 of the screen man you won't notice ANY difference...

Maybe a little because AMOLED in general sucks with whites. I usually get more than a full day because I have an extended battery.

Yeah... maybe a VERY little... but for you to claim that you want GB because of the black notification bar is kinda silly. It will not make a noticeable difference. The main reason Google made it black in GB is to give Android a more cohesive appearance. You can root and change your notification bar to black right now if you want.

Really? I assumed they did it because AMOLED screens get burned in if the bar is white. I know mine is burned.

And I have to agree the black bar is a big draw for me. That and the EAP bug.

I thought white save more battery cause the lcd dont have to display anything just let the backlight or led light pass thru. Sony's battery saving wallpaper is usually all white too.

The amoled in the N1 is different than a regular LCD. Every pixel emits it's own light, this is why the blacks look much deeper on the amoled when compared to an LCD. Black = no need for light, and therefore less energy.

As for GB adding in the black bar, probably for a few reasons:
-Gingerbread has shifted to a darker, mainly black theme, and the black notification bar goes well with this design
-Burn in on the amoled screens is fairly common, and a black bar reduces the chance of this (though the icons will burn in still)
-While power consumption will be reduced slightly, I doubt this was reason for the change, still my screen consumes about 60% of my battery (battery info). I'd say a ~3% decrease in power consumption due to the black bar is a welcome change.

Some of the later N1s have an LCD, maybe that's what kwanying has.

I like the darker theme for the sake of my eyes. All the useless bright white is blinding if you use your phone in the dark. The less the better.

No N1 have LCD. All N1s are AMOLED.

If blackbar is the only thing you are looking forward to, there are plenty of themes and ROMs with blackbar available.

Hate to burst your bubble, but there are LCD N1's. Due to the AMOLED shortage, some newer and repaired N1's came back with LCD. Just search for N1 LCD and you will see what I mean.

Yeah! I am quite eager to look at the Super AMOLED plus. Looks very promising.

Actually I just want Gingerbread to see the improvements made from Froyo (apparently they were very minor and mostly aesthetic). I don't really like the keyboard (too small and the top row is such a waste of space) than again, I prefer using the Swype method. I can wait for the OTA or I can root.
