Give me some reasons why I should get a Xoom and trade my iPad 2

The new music beta sounds promising. So does the new movie service. There are a few quirks with Honeycomb though. Stock browser fc's, body fc's and market fc's. Hopefully fixed with the new update. Despite those problems I still would choose it over an Ipad. Google sky is great on it. Body is great despite the occasional fc. Got a cheap micro hdmi cable instead of being forced to pay apple's price for a cable. With rooting it I now have the sdcard working, hulu works with the hacked flash, etc.

Is Google Body available for the Xoom? I'm interested in that. I'll still have my 1st gen iPad so I don't mind trading it in. Are their any cool things you can do with it like connecting bluetooth devices, etc?

One thing I hate about the iPad 2 is the camera. I took a picture of my daughter up close and it was so blurry I thought she was a UFO. I think it's rated at under 1MP.
Yes google body is available.

Ok cool. I'm more interested in running uBuntu on it as a dual boot. Thanks guys. I have to back up my iPad today and save all my stuff then I can meet the guy.

As far as the trade goes I will fill you in after I get out the shower. I wanted input on how much I should charge him on.top of the trade since I have extra accessories.

Two widgets walk into an apple genius bar and one says, "I'd like to buy an iPad 2"
the genius responds, "We don't much appreciate your kind here..." :):):)

Seriously, if u have money to buy xoom or other honeycomb device, and keep iPad2 is the best :)
both have a good and bad side, iPad have more :p :D

I'm thinking about buying ipad2 soon, but never trade my xoom :)

Well if you were asking me this before 3.1, then I would've told you to stick with your iPad 2, but the update brings so many features that Android is feeling less like a mobile platform and more like a full blown desktop OS. Honestly my friend has an iPad 2 and he said the reason he didn't get a Xoom was because it unstable, regardless if it has flash, it's useless if the browser can't even work right, plus multi tasking on the iPad 2 was a bit superior (more background tasks is all, nothing else which 3.1 addressed).

You have flash, consistant updates, and SD card support on the way, and a bunch more hardware support than the iPad 2's proprietary library of accessories. Getting a Xoom was the best decision I have ever made to be honest.

Just to add my two cents, but I like the option to change out the keyboard layout. Thumbkeyboard is perhaps the most natural method of composing compared to the OEM keyboard.

I saw one of my contractor take notes with the ipad. He held it in one arm wrapped around it while using the other hand to type out notes. It's like witnessing your granny learning how to use the keyboard for the first time....

I have an iPad 2 with an iCarbons skin on it (black carbon fiber I purchased at icarbonsdotcom), Apple Smart Cover, Camera Connection Kit ($35-$40 I don't remember), HDMI cable ($45 I believe including tax). I'm going to be doing a trade but I'm expecting money on top of the trade on his part since I have more accessories plus the skin. The skin itself cost me almost $40 on the website.

What do you think is a reasonable offer for the trade plus accessories. I was thinking more along of the lines of $100 on top of the trade.

Posted this up on another forum a while back

I use my Xoom for the following

• Web browsing (Tabbed browsing and flash enabled browsing is amazing) Having it is essentially like browsing on a laptop. Google Chrome bookmark synching as well with my primary desktop. So amazing.

• Music and movie player - Stores all my music and playlists the way I want in a very pleasing, and intuitive manner. Simple to navigate. Very pretty.

• Chat on FB chat or AIM with friends all while simultaneously browsing the web and listening to music. All without interruption. Multitasking without closing programs or "apps" is paramount to me.

• Google Video chat with my brother, family, Emily and friends. This is 1000000x better thank skype.

• Beautiful and intuitive GUI that is MEANT as a tablet media interface. This IS NOT A LAPTOP replacement, and the Xoom is NOT A PHONE GUI. It is specifically meant to be a Tablet media/web interface. There is no discussing this further. Those that have now began to use this, as I have understand how amazing this is. I have owned an iPad, a Galaxy Tab, and now the Xoom. The Xoom surpasses both as far as every day use and natural functionaity.

• the Xoom does not REQUIRE an APP to accomplish something. Hence why the app store is "under developed" the way many people say. What I have found out, is that every APP that's available on an iPad, is there because the device browser or natural UI is unable to accomplish the task on its own, so someone needed to develop an APP for it. This is what sets the Xoom apart. Honeycomb does not NEED apps to accomplish things an iPad or a Galaxy Tab, or an Android Phone OS would need.

• Showing off photos if people would like. The active flickr slideshow works amazingly well in the browser, or I load them up in a gallery on the device. Either way - it works beautifully.

• VPN into my networks and controlling, installing and setting up software as needed.

• Downloading music directly to the device via torrent or network.

• OUTSTANDING battery life.

• Amazon App Store - TONS of apps if needed. Plus they feature give away 1 free pay app every day.

Interactive dynamic desktop page widgets are also so extremely convenient to have. Not just a "icon" or a fancy picture on the desktop that looks like it's active, when it opens a new link. It actually functions in window.

The tab is not a laptop replacement, and it is not an iPad replacement. Because it is a TRUE tablet that DOES MORE and HAS MORE than anything else that is out now.

Want to display a slideshow of client images in a gorgeous way? The Xoom can do it. It can make Women and Gods cry. It can eat your children with its 13" penis too.

I know from personal experience with all of these devices.

I'm so fed up with Apple people with ZERO experience with this device, shutting it down with zero experience.

Yesterday I sucked it up and actually picked up a Xoom, I have a feeling we were both similarly blown away by the IO keynote.

I also was first in line for an iPad 2.

I dunno, I'm certainly no fanboy, but I think I'm just a geek. I like having tech, regardless of the platform. I'm happy to be in a position right now financially where I could get both, I worry about not using one or the other, but I have it set now more so that the Xoom is a work device and the iPad is a home device. We'll see how well this works out...

Because iPad sucks...j/k...

I actually almost got an iPad 2 myslef, but decided to get the Xoom for...well, because I had to see what Google cooked up for a Android Tablet OS.

In the future if I wanna ever experence a iPad I may get the iPad 1 since they will be cheap since the coming of the iPad 2.

The camera is decent. Better than iPad 2's for sure.

Flash support and HDMI out is a huge bonus.

If you can afford an extra 20 bucks a year you can sign up for playon and stream all sorts of things like Netflix and hulu (you can do this on the iPad also admittedly)

The wide screen format is much more conducive to media and web content at this point in time.

Bottom line is preference though. If you enjoy the iOS atmosphere and all that comes with it, then you'll like the iPad and if you like Android and its customization options you'll probably like the xoom more. Seeing as you use both OS's already you should be able to tell which you like more. I personally own an iPad 1 and a Xoom as far as tablets go and I probably used my iPad twice maybe since getting my xoom.

I drove about an hour for a 30 minute trip to meet up with the guy at a service area. It ended up being an hour because I got lost and had to turn back around. We did the swap and it's pretty awesome. I have to root it this weekend and then download all my apps and stuff.

Is there a way to close running programs because when I press that button all my apps show up but I can't figure out how to close them.

Anyway thanks for the help guys.
