u mean i can not flash global variant at the first time, only after indian variant?
my phone was stuck in EDL and every msm i had said it was a mismatch. Basically, all MSM checks to assure it running on the proper device, except for the OP9 Pro variant. this allowed me to then use the original msm i needed (which is in my case, non pro global.

If unsure or doesnt work for you for whatever reason, there are a few guides in this OP9 forum on how to change from europe, global or whatever and even some specifically for switching to or from colorOS/OOS. id check them all out and see which way you feel is best for you.

Hello! I bought a new OP9 LE2110. It's sealed new box with Color OS. I want to try last build of OOS 11.

Please tell me the most correct way how can I upgrade to OOS 11 Global version firmware

What version of MSM tool should I use? A lot of different information and do not want to make mistakes.
Don't use MSM Tool, unlock the bootloader and use the global downgrade package for 11.2.8.8. That will take you straight to OOS11 as I have done this myself to switch back from COS after I flashed it to try it.

Since you're likely on ColorOS 12, you will need to use this APK.

Download the downgrade package, put it in the root of the phone storage, install the APK, open it, hit the gear, choose the downgrade package zip.

You can use a global or EU downgrade package, I wouldn't use India though.

Thank you! Unlock bootloader is need for downgrade with global or euro region? Without this I can’t use this downgrade roms?

After successfully downgrade can I lock bootloader back?

Or u mean unlock bootloader to be safely if this is problem?

Downgrade package may be deleted by the phone if you don't have an unlocked bootloader. As you will still be on official software, you can re-lock the bootloader afterwards if you wish.

I hard bricked my OnePlus 9 (LE2113) while I was trying to unlock the bootloader. I tried flashing with Global, EU and Indian variants of MSM Tools but none of them worked.

Every time I try to flash with "Use LIte Firehose" unchecked I always get the "Sahara communication" error at exactly 18 seconds. With "Use LIte Firehose" checked however download completes normally but phone is still hard bricked.

I tried this on two laptops (Win 10 with USB 2.0 ports & WIn 11 with USB 3.0 ports) but ended up with the same results. I'm also using official cable. I have Qualcomm drivers installed.

Can anyone help me?

  • Don't use Windows 11, stick with 10.
  • Attempt on every USB port you can.
  • Make sure the phone reflects as "qualcomm hs-usb qd loader 9008"or (something similar to that) in device manager in the "Ports (COM & LPT)" section.
  • Not attempting fixes with the official cable has always been an issue for me. All of my MSM successes were with one of them.
  • to get into EDL mode easier, with your phone powered off, hold Power, vol up and down (so all 3 at once) and keep holding them. If you boot to fast boot, just hold until it cycles again. if it's bricked with no screen output (like mine was) just hold for a good 30 seconds.
  • You'll know it's in EDL because it will habitually make the device connection / disconnection sounds on your PC, you will also see if it comes in and out of device manager under Ports (COM & LPT)
  • Once you know your phone is in EDL mode, unplug it, right click and run the Indian Pro ( i know, not a pro, this is just the only one without signature checks or something like that) MSMToolkit as an administrator and initiate it.
  • When it's waiting for a device connection, then plug in your phone.
    • I and others have also noticed better success with the MSM started and waiting for a device, then getting device connected prior to start.
  • Please read this whole thread I had with a completely bricked OP9. Pay Extra close attention to everything EtherealRemnant says, he's the one that saved my ass. They are a trusted authority on issues like this. I'd do anything and everything he suggests for the best outcome.
Good luck man, Ive been there. You'll get it, just be patient.

I managed to flash with Lite Firehose but phone is still dead. I had some issues with phone being recognized but it somehow connected. I have also noticed that device under Ports (COM & LPT) is being recognized even after unpluging the phone, weirdly.

So your phone does not work after the MSM? If so, there's nothing left to do but send it to OnePlus for repair.

will this method also work if the rom to downgrade from is a custom rom?
e.g., custom rom > downgrade to global OOS (via OPLocalUpdate tool+downgrade global OS rom) > fastboot oem lock

The MSM is finishing according to that screenshot. If the phone is still dead after that process is completed, you have a hardware issue that needs to be addressed by OnePlus.
Thats the part that threw me off. I never seen nor would ever assume a phone would complete and still not work. Just assumed it wouldn't be able complete, at the very most. So I was out of my element and just felt you were the one to ask. Thanks for looking into it.

What is the best MSM tool to use to get back-to-stock OOS? I'm not 100% sure. I'm on the international version.

Ok, so after going through this entire thread over and over again, it's clear to me that the most up-to-date MSM tool that is actually working and has gotten me back to stock in late 2022 is this one:

Now just for reference, I had a completely BRICKED OnePus 9 LE25AA (Global Version), and this MSM has gotten me back to Android 11 on OOS 11.2.10.10. Just to help those out who are looking at this thread in 2022 and aren't wanting to look through this entire discussion.

MSM tool for our device is totally screwed up. Something happened and Oneplus wont acknowledge it. They know about it though. The MSM tool will not work.
I have an OP9 and tried every regional variants MSM tool without success.
The only MSM tool that will work with many OP9 devices is the OP9 Pro - India tool. It has to be the India version for some reason.
Once you recover with the OP9 Pro India tool, then flash with correct OP9 image. Then do it again to flash both slots. Thats the only thing that worked for me and many others.

I've been using OnePlus phones since their launch now nearly 10 years ago. I remember that they were heavily supported by the developer community, as Nexus soon made its way out.

Things change. Boy, do they ever.

Price right up there with Samsung et al.
Updates and support (hello, MSM?) lagging further and further behind.
Devs' phone? Ha! We don't even have a fully functional TWRP (now granted, that's not on OP but a reflection on our community's waning interest in OP).

    I'm thinking Pixel 6 Pro.

Sorry for the off topic rant.
