Just installed 11.2.7.7 and still get no gmail notifications. Guess I will try that command to uninstall it (I am not rooted) and install it from the store again. shrug

I gave up. Listed my OP9 Pro on Swappa and bought another S21 Ultra. I sold an S21 Ultra for the 9 Pro and now I'm back, blah.

S21 Ultra had the same problem, except one simple adb command that disables doze completely fixes the problem with minimal affect on battery life, I'm at 5.5 hours of SoT at 52% on day 2 of ownership. The same command did not work on the OP9 Pro, and I tried everything in this thread and beyond.

Gmail notifications are extremely important and a phone that doesn't get them immediately is of no use to me. I love OP and OOS, but I'm absolutely perplexed and confused as to why this is an issue on Google's own platform and not on iOS.

Good luck waiting for OnePlus to fix this my fellow Android brethren, I truly hope they do eventually. But I'm no longer purchasing Android phones without research prior to see if disabling doze fixes gmail notifications.

The ADB command didn't work ...

These apps are whitelisted.
Gmail is in the list, but notifications still do not come in.

My problem is, I can't open attachments in the app.

Don't want to hijack the thread

I don't suggest syncing your primary Gmail account to every service you are using. You will start getting a lot of spamming letters. Maybe this is not a big deal, but I hate receiving spamming letters. I tried to get rid of them, and I understood that changing the email address would help me. Now I am using different methods to avoid receiving spamming letters on my new email address. The most helpful thing is the temporary email. Completing the registrations using such email helps to avoid a lot of spamming letters.

    What's the adb command?

    Code:
    adb shell dumpsys deviceidle disable

I have a problem with Gmail not syncing properly.
From time to time, it will stop notifying me of new emails.
When going in the app, the mails will come in, without the need to swipe down to refresh.

It has been a couple of days like this now...
    Pretty annoying.

    And to state the obvious...
    Yes, I have enabled syncing.
And YES battery optimization for Gmail is disabled...
    Not even the intelligent thingy.

    Anybody had the same?
    Any ideas?
Have read al lot of topics about it, but no clear solutions...

So many people (including me) already mentioned this issue with Gmail notifications. It is definitely a bug and OnePlus is aware about it. Not sure when it will be corrected...
Waiting for an update, I recommend to use "Spark" app which is working good for all my mailboxes.

    👍
The beautiful thing about Android is there's almost always a 3rd party work around.
    You're not locked in.
Glitches aren't uncommon, but most are small ones. Finding work arounds is a part of Android ownership... use it's flexibility to your advantage.
