I'm a bit curious. Why are you attempting to manually install the factory image as opposed to using the kit?

Hey thanks for the reply bro...i dint get any OTA updates so trying to manually install the updated one i.e 4.3.3...But my driver is working fine, thats the reason i could root the device and unlock the bootloader.... Please suggest ..m deseperate to update to 4.3.3.. Eagerly awaiting your respnse..Cheers

I think you are attempting to install a new factory image as opposed to an update. That's fine if that's what you want to do and you realize it will wipe your phone.

I'm still not clear as to why you are doing it manually as opposed to using the kit. Do you have the kit installed?

Yes you got me right...rather waiting for an OTA update m doing this manually by downloading factory image, Yes m well aware of the fact that it will wipe all my phone data... Yes i have the kit installed...But no have no clue whats going wrong.. As mentioned previously in my post... Hi Mark,

I got all the steps right as per your tutorial... but i cannot manually update to 4.3.3 (Currently m using 4.2.1- Stock rom)...Followed all the below mentioned instructions,but in vain :-

These steps assume that you have set up your adb/fastboot drivers correctly.

1. Download it from https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
2. Unzip the .tar file to a folder on your pc
3. Unzip the needed files from the .tar file to the same folder on your pc
4. Copy the file fastboot-windows.exe to this folder (you can find the fastboot file in many places including my ToolKit download on post#1) and rename the file to fastboot.exe
5. Boot the phone into Fastboot Mode (KEEP holding the 'Volume up' and 'Volume down' buttons while pressing the 'Power' button)
6. Connect your device via the usb cable
7. Browse to this folder on your pc and run the flash-all.bat file to flash the stock images

I have moved all the files in this folder C:\Unified_Android_ToolKit\put_google_factory_image_here\GalaxyNexus and extracted all the files in the same folder..below are the files present in this folder :-
AdbWinApi.dll
boot.img
bootloader-maguro-primemd04.img
fastboot.exe
flash-all.bat
flash-all.sh
flash-base.sh
radio-maguro-i9250xxlj1.img
recovery.img
system.img
userdata.img

Now when i run flash-all.bat file ..cmd starts and its stuck in the screen saying waiting for the device and my phone is in fastboot mode, I cannt see any progress but when i remove the usb i can see an error saying read file failed n some number for instance -2645787986324....Please help...eagerly waiting for your response...

:highfive: Finally got the 4.3 updated to my Gnex.. Cured all the problems.. Guys for the ones who faced the same problem...Let me help you.

Steps :-
1. Go to the bootloader assuming that you followed all the steps i.e of unlocking the bootloader & rooting your device thru this wonderful tool (Long press power key & volume up & down key simultaneously).
2.Unplug the USB cable and re-plug it again.
3.Go to MY COMPUTER>DEVICE MANAGER> ANDROID> Now right click on the driver and uninstall it..You will be prompted whether to delete all files fr this driver...Press yes..(please make sure you remove all the ADB drivers installed)
4.Now follow step two again.
5.Windows will manually install ANDROID 1.0 i.e ADB interface.
6.Go to the tool press option 9 & let tool do his work..

THATS IT.... Tool will update your phone ,it would take round about 15-20 min maybe even less then that.. A FRESH NEW LEASE OF LIFE TO GNEX.... Thank you very much MARK for this wonderful tool & NCguy - for taking time out n replyin to my post.. Much appreciated.

Now while transferring Images and songs to Gnex i get an error media not responding... Now one more question.. Is it ok to unroot the device and lock back the bootloader..??

you may have an issue with the mtp driver which is different than the fastboot and adb drivers. I would also first try a different USB cable.

you may be getting a bit above my skills but I guess at this point I may be all you have. Scary thought.

My best guess is that all your drivers on your pc are hosed. You might want to start fresh on a new pc if you cant clean up the drivers on your primary pc.

It's not clear to me as to whether you were successful installing the factory image or not. If your phone is stable enough you might want to consider a factory reset assuming that you have some version of stock android currently loaded. Root and unlock shouldn't matter. With a factory reset and a clean set of drivers you may be able to start fresh.

Hmmmm... Now its all fine.. Some how i managed to tweak some setting as mentioned before and all media files are transferred back...But m still not sure of the locking the bootloader... Cos once i unroot or lock the bootloader again a new image would be flashed, if m not wrng.?? Maybe it will conflict with my current stock ROM which i flashed from this tool kit 4.3... Have you ever tried doing this.?? I mean flashing a ROM n then locking the bootloader back.??

no, I've never actually needed to relock a bootloader. Unlocking will wipe the phone but it does not load a different image . Relocking doesn't affect anything. Unrooting shouldn't affect anything either. I'm pretty sure you need to unroot before relocking if you plan to do both.

In your case though I get the feeling that your setup is unstable so removing root and relocking could very well have unexpected results. Also, if you successfully loaded the stock rom yesterday then that process should have already removed root from your phone. If you still have root then you did not successfully load a new stock rom.

no, the main risk is if someone steels your phone they could potentially steal your data even if your screen is locked.

unlocking will blow away your data. You had to unlock it to load that custom rom and recovery. Did you re-lock it again?
