I'm going to stick with the fascinate for a few more months at least. I'm not looking to pay Verizon money to beta test a phone as I just did that on the early days of the fascinate. For now I'm going to enjoy a solid stable phone with plenty of roms.

Those of us who cannot upgrade right away have that advantage. In a couple of months there's gonna be plenty of quality, stable work waiting for us

There are plenty of ROMs for the G-Nex between XDA and Rootzwiki, but here's the problem in 2 parts:

1. The device is new, so the ROMs are new, and most are basically the same underneath, just stock with a couple of minor tweaks.

2. When you get an AOSP phone, everyone thinks he's a "dev" because he can pack a few apps and scripts into a zip file (one guy in irc called them "Winzip ROMs). It's like there's a legion of Enyo's over there.

There are also more kernels in Rootzwiki than a Pop Secret factory - same problem as the one with ROMs. If you don't know the "dev", you really are taking your phone's life in your hands flashing them.

Yeah it's a deal, $380 outright is hard to beat (try to find out all you can about this guy before you trust him, though, 'cause the deal is almost too good to be true) - btw, the RAZR also has a Super AMOLED display...

That's a great deal but beware of the seller. I was really impressed with the razr. Smoother than any other VZW phone (except the gnex), great ergonomics and hardware. I imagine that when it gets ICS it'll be on par with the gnex.
Imo, it's another phone that doesn't really need rooting.

If you like MotoBlur...
(please do what laureanop said, and find out everything you can about the seller first)

Has anyone seen John Connor?
I changed the launcher to go ex and the phone flew through everything. Blur is not that intrusive (it was actually very close to aosp)And eventually somebody will come up with the boot strap

Jesus, tough decision! On the one hand the seller has been a member for 3 years, but 380 for a brand new razr is way too cheap. That's $300 off retail

Post #12 and #17 he says he bought it off of Craigslist and really can't say that he is 100% certain that it has a clean ESN.

yeah even if the phone is great, i personally will never buy another moto product until they stop with the bs of encrypting their bootloaders

i know htc has security on the phones, but they offer unlock solutions for all but vzw devices...and i blame verizon for that, not htc

I'm sure the bootloaders will be unlocked once the Google buyout is complete...

maybe/maybe not

google has said they will let motorola run as an independent company/unit essentially

google didnt buy them to get into the handset business...they bought them for patents and profitability....if moto wireless or w/e its called makes money doing what it is doing, i dont see google stepping in that much

especially since they dont want to upset their other handset partners...they ll want it to seem like they dont run the company, just own it as as an absentee partner

I didn't have the hart to show him i already had the ICS on my Fassy

I odined chainfires modded stock kernel that includes root and unlocks the boot loader. Worked great he seems pretty respected around the forums so I knew it would prob work out okay. Now just waiting (rather anxiously) for voodoo sound port. Only thing I truly miss.
