I odined chainfires modded stock kernel that includes root and unlocks the boot loader. Worked great he seems pretty respected around the forums so I knew it would prob work out okay. Now just waiting (rather anxiously) for voodoo sound port. Only thing I truly miss.

Lol I have already recomended that method to a couple folks over on the gnex section that are boot looped from newbness. I just don't understand why more development is not utilizing odin. I know that if and when I get a gnex, this is the first thing I will do. Its so easy...put the .tar in pda hit start, bam your bootloaders are unlocked, already rooted and deodexed. Seems like alot less hassle but yet alot of folks over there dont get it?

People get set in their ways. If you're not familiar with odin it kind of sounds scary. We have that advantage ( fascinate owners are probably the most odin knowledgeable phone owners out there)

Especially the poor souls who tried *cough cough* Espresso, SDK ICS, SDK Honeycomb,... :D

Has anyone seen John Connor?

It IS nice sometimes to be able to flash something when you're afk... All the same, like you said, people make such a big deal out of rooting and don't even realize (because they don't read) that a lot of ROMs out there bypass the whole rooting process and just root automatically when flashed in Odin.

Has anyone seen John Connor?

Actually since the gnex release last week you can see tumbleweed rolling across xda fascinate forums

"the relentless pursuit of the perfect rom"
well yes and no....there hasnt been anything new released on this forum in a few weeks really

im sure many did upgrade to the gnex from the fascinate...but since friday there were 500 downloads of the latest superclean...so i guess some folks are around

some who got the fascinate earlier this year (and cant use the 2010 upgrades early upgrade thing) are stuck for awhile longer

personally, even if half of those who still had the phone left, it would be worth it for me to maintain stuff here....since thats still 3x as many people using tw roms here vs sense roms on the inc2 lol

I am one of the few remaining who got their fascinate earlier this year, so I will be lurking and flashing for some time to come. I am very happy and grateful for folks like you who are doing great work to keep my Fascinate a fantastic device. I love Superclean, it's by far the best ROM I've used in the 9 months I've had my phone. So as I mentioned earlier in this thread, my goodbye is to the old crappy stock Fascinate, and hello not to a new phone, but to my new Superclean, ICS Red themed fascinate!

The craigslist ads and ebay auctions for the Fascinate have really spiked.. So as long as this device continues to generate some interest with people looking for a cheap way to upgrade without extending contracts, we will still have visitors to this forum..
