ive just ordered the zagg smartbuds as they are suppose to be desire hd compatible. ive been using the old buds for over a year now and the quality of the phones are pretty good - the leads are bullet proof (unlike my old shures which would disintergrate after 3 months max). Im just hoping all the controls work with the dhd, i will let you know when they arrive

hi,

just like to also know if any of these device is able to control the fm radio?
i'm not looking at the full functionality, just turning on and off the fm radio.
i'm looking at the 3.5mm wired headset.

as far as i saw, the listed here are
ultimate ears 200vi
zagg smartbuds

anyone tried?

So how does the sound quality/bass of the UE200vi n zagg smartbuds compared to Beat? Beat has a fantastic sound quality only down side is, its heavy and only got the mic function.

Just discovered this thread. :)

I'm also in the market for a set of headphones with inline controls, undecided until I've researched a little more. Could someone update the 1st post with which headsets are confirmed working with DHD with approx cost (and shipping) please? Will make a valuable reference for all in the market for a set. ;)

sennheiser MM50 works with DHD.
As far I have figure it out with PowerAMP:

quick click start/stop
long click forward
double click callback last call (one quick clik answers/hang during phone call)

I have bought it for my previous HTC Touch HD, 2 years ago from ebay for ~18$

I do not know is there any better ones but earphones are owsome to me. Great bass, good quality. In two years nothing happen to them.

I have a Samsung WEP870 headset. Typical in-ear style Bluetooth headset with removable over-ear clip, great for use in the car. I don't find it uncomfortable to wear, even on trips of over an hour. Unclip the ear loop and plug in the lanyard-coupled ear buds to listen to music. Sound quality is not as good as dedicated music headsets, but more than capable for a train ride or walk to the pub. I get around 10 hours out of a full charge.

Only con I can think of is that you can't control music with the headset (make/break call button and volume only). The volume control does work with Sense's smart volume control, though, changing media volume when listening to music and call volume when in a call. This + SE Live View (if it worked properly) would ensure my phone stayed firmly rooted in my pocket during travelling!

After debating what to go for I took eozen81's advice and bought the SE MW600 for just under £36 from Amazon. So just some quick feedback after 2 days use:

Reasons for buying:
1) Mainly to use in the office, as I don't like leaving my phone on my desk, I found it a chore constantly disconnecting my earphones before pocketing my phone.
2) While at my desk, didn't like to keep pressing the power button to wake phone to pause music.

Pairing:
- Unlike me to read the instructions, but after some digging around some users experienced dodgy sound quality and connection dropping, I tried to get the unit to pair automatically with the DHD but it didn't play ball. So I manually scanned and selected the headset from DHD.
- So far no problems! :)
- An added bonus I think is that you can pair upto 3 devices to the headset. :)

Sounds Quality:
- Didn't even bother with the set of earphones that came with the headset. :p Cuttenly using my 2yr old set of Sennheiser CX300 II.
- So far it's been fantastic, no drops, calls are clear, music coming through as if using wired headphones.
- Not tried the FM radio (I hardly listen to it), but will try over weekend and add to my feedback here.

Controls:
- Its probably my fat fingers, the call and power button I found a bit fiddly to press, but slowly getting used to it.
- Back, Play/Pause, Forward buttons work with PowerAMP absolutely fine.
- Volume control - still getting used to having to slide it one way or the other to inc/dec volume, would've preferred buttons.

Battery Life:
- Only done a single full 8hrs charge so far, will report later. ;)

Comments:
- For me the bluetooth headset will not replace my need for a wired set of headphones with inline control for when I'm out and about to conserve battery, but I need a bit more time to shop around for an ideal set.
- I highly recommend the MW600 @ £36. If you are considering this and want a better set of earphones, keep in mind to look for a set with a 3.5mm I-plug. I have a set of Denon C452 coming to keep me going till I can get a more decent set.

So I got this new Ultimate Ears 200VI (not the metroFI, but the new line logitech provide now) for touch pro 2, but mic did not work. old superfi 5 and triplefi10 works fine (limited remote function for playback, but at least I can click to answer the call and play/pause music). Does anyone try this model, does it really work or I got a defective one?

Thanks

do you use it for desire hd or touch pro 2?

i was about to buy one this coming weekend, but now seeing your msg, would need a second thought
Touch pro2. Was googling for related info about 200VI and saw this discussion. Tried it with friend's iphone today and the mic worked fine.

hmmm .... interesting ....

since you mentioned that triplefi 5 & 10 was working, i took a look at the difference between them and 200vi

it seems that the 200vi mic control is different from triplefi 5 & 10
the one that is similar is 220vi

maybe i'll see if i can find a 220vi to try

220vi

triplefi 10

200vi

ok, i got myself a ultimate ears 400vi from a local shop, the only reason being 200vi is out of stock.

the shop i went has many sets for consumer to try before buying, so i tried a couple including ultimate ears and audio technica
generally, all of the 3 i have tried with control works partially
ie.
single click play and stop
double click last call

volume control or skipping of tracks do not work

so, my conclusion similar to what the salesman told me is most of the later htc model does have partial compatibility with iphone earpiece

i'm not sure if it applies for all iphone earpiece, but at least ultimate ears 400vi is partially working and enough for me
